Unicornuate Uterus With a Rudimentary Horn Adenomyoma, Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis, and Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis: A Case Report.

Congenital uterine malformations are often difficult to classify, and an incorrect label can carry over for years across successive clinical records. We describe a 39-year-old woman, gravida 1 para 1, referred for chronic pelvic pain and intermenstrual bleeding, whose uterus had previously been recorded as didelphys. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging, with T2-weighted sequences in three planes, T1-weighted and fat-saturated sequences, diffusion-weighted imaging, and post-gadolinium imaging, instead demonstrated a unicornuate uterus with a left, cavitated, non-communicating functional rudimenta

Case Report: Persistent urogenital sinus (PUGS) associated with complete bicorporeal uterus, double cervix and partial longitudinal non-obstructing vaginal septum: a one-stop diagnostic and operative hysteroscopic approach.

INTRODUCTION: Persistent urogenital sinus (PUGS) is a rare congenital malformation characterized by the confluence of the urethra and vagina into a single distal channel. It may be associated with other congenital anomalies, including Müllerian malformations. Although typically diagnosed in childhood, delayed diagnosis may occur, particularly in patients with mild or nonspecific symptoms. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 39-year-old nulliparous woman referred for suspected complex genital malformation, presenting with chronic pelvic pain, dyspareunia, and recurrent urogenital infect

Uterus didelphys: the first case report on molecular profiling of endometrial tissue from both uterine cavities.

BACKGROUND: A didelphic uterus represents a unique and infrequent congenital condition in which a woman possesses two distinct uteri, each with its own cervix. This anomaly arises due to partial or incomplete merging of the Müllerian ducts during the developmental stages in the womb. Accounting for uterine malformations, a didelphic uterus is a relatively rare condition, affecting approximately 0.5-2% of the population and is considered one of the more uncommon types of uterine abnormalities. METHODS: This case report aims to study the physical separation in uterine didelphys and its impact o

Genetic Predisposition in Müllerian Malformations: A Case Report.

Müllerian malformations (MM) are congenital anomalies of the female reproductive tract that may have a hereditary component. We report the case of a 20-year-old woman with a notable family history of MM (mother and grandmother with a longitudinal vaginal septum and aunt with a bicornuate uterus) who presented with difficulty inserting tampons and menstrual cups. Physical examination revealed a 3 cm longitudinal vaginal septum, which was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a 4 cm septum in the lower two-thirds of the vagina, with no abnormalities in the uterus or cervix. Surgical r

Laparoscopic transabdominal cerclage in a patient with a complete septate uterus and duplicated cervices.

UNLABELLED: Cervical insufficiency is a significant cause of second-trimester loss and preterm birth. Transabdominal cerclage is indicated after failed transvaginal cerclage or anatomical factors that make a vaginal approach technically difficult-such as müllerian anomalies, prior cervical surgery, or cervical duplication. In patients with müllerian anomalies undergoing a cerclage placement, it is critical to properly identify the anatomy for surgical planning and patient counseling of the cerclage method. OBJECTIVE: To describe transabdominal cerclage indications and surgical technique and t

A Rare Autopsy Finding of Müllerian and Renal Agenesis Linked to Suspected AMHR2 Pathway Disruption.

We present a rare incidental finding of Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome identified during the autopsy of a reproductive-aged woman who died in a motor vehicle accident. In situ examination showed the absence of both the uterus and cervix, with the vaginal canal ending in a blind pouch that measured 7.0 × 6.0 cm, with a depth of 4 cm. Both ovaries were present and positioned high near the iliac vessels, demonstrating multiple cysts upon cut surfaces. The bilateral fallopian tubes were absent in their entirety. The right kidney, along with its hilar vessels and ureter, was also ab

Uterus didelphys bicollis bicolpos-a case report.

Uterus didelphys refers to a congenital uterine anomaly that occurs due to failed fusion of the paired Müllerian ducts. It is characterized by two separate non-communicating uterine horns each with its cervix and fallopian tube. Duplication may be limited to the uterus, cervix or also involve the vagina. Here, we present a case of a 27-year-old primigravida incidentally diagnosed during pregnancy, followed up with cervical cerclage at 13 weeks due to a short cervix and had preterm delivery via cesarean section at 35 weeks. She had a successful pregnancy outcome and an uneventful postnatal cour

A rare variant of mullerian agenesis: a case report and review of the literature.

INTRODUCTION: Menstruation is a developmental milestone and usually marks healthy and normal pubertal changes in females. Menarche refers to the onset of first menstruation in a female. The causes of primary amenorrhea include outflow tract abnormalities, resistant endometrium, primary ovarian insufficiency, and disorders of the hypothalamus, pituitary, or other endocrine glands. A rare variant of mullerian agenesis, which warrants an individualized approach to management, is presented here. CASE REPORT: We present here the case of a 25-year-old Indian female with pain in the lower abdomen an

Hidden obstruction: A rare case of hematometrocolpos in a young adolescent with vaginal atresia.

Hematometrocolpos is a condition characterized by the accumulation of menstrual blood in the uterus and vagina due to an obstruction, often caused by congenital malformations such as vaginal atresia or imperforate hymen. A 12-year-old girl presented with acute pelvic pain and absence of menarche. Ultrasound ruled out ovarian pathology but revealed distension of the cervix and vagina. MRI confirmed hematometrocolpos and third middle and distal vaginal atresia. MRI is crucial for diagnosing genital malformations and differentiating hematometrocolpos from other gynecological conditions. Surgical

A Full-Term Pregnancy in a Patient With Uterus Didelphys.

Müllerian duct anomalies (MDAs) are congenital uterine abnormalities resulting from incorrectly developed Müllerian ducts. Uterus didelphys is an uncommon MDA linked to fetal growth restriction, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and higher rates of infertility. We present an unusual case of a 21-year-old woman who presented at the emergency room with no previous history of medical illness. An ultrasound report showed her uterus with an irregular shape. An official departmental scan indicated an anteverted, bicornuate uterus harboring a normal-looking intrauterine gestational sac and a 2.5 cm cervical

Hemihysterectomy in a patient with uterus didelphys, vaginal septum and ipsilateral renal agenesis: A case report and literature review.

Uterus didelphys is a rare Müllerian anomaly, often diagnosed during menarche or in women with a personal history of infertility and/or recurrent pregnancy loss. Its association with other genitourinary anomalies is frequent and may determine the existence of established syndromes. This case report refers to a 13-year-old female patient diagnosed with OHVIRA syndrome (Obstructed Hemivagina with Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis), a condition wherein the presence of a didelphic uterus is associated with hemivagina obstruction and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The patient presented with cyclic pelvic pai

Two novel AMHR2 gene variants in monozygotic twins with persistent Müllerian duct syndrome: A case report and functional study.

BACKGROUND: Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is an autosomal recessive congenital abnormality in which Müllerian derivatives, uterus, cervix, upper two-thirds of the vagina, and fallopian tubes persist in otherwise normally virilized males. Mutations in anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and AMH receptor type II (AMHR2) genes have been identified as causative. However, functional experimental analysis of AMHR2 or AMH variants that cause PMDS is still lacking. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Chinese Han family affected by PMDS was identified. To assess the history and clinical manifestations of PM
