OBJECTIVE: To discuss the differential diagnosis and the management of venous malformations of the vulva.
METHODS: Five symptomatic patients were treated. The degree of pain and discomfort was self-assessed by using a horizontal visual analog scale before and after treatment. Preoperative evaluation included Doppler ultrasound scanning in all patients and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in one. All patients had direct-injection venography and sclerotherapy during the same session. Ethanol was used in two cases and polidocanol in three. Supernumerary breast or polymastia is a well documented anomaly of the breast, and commonly presents along the embryonic milk line extending between the axilla and groin. Chromosomal cytogenetic abnormalities are common in tumor cells and are often the basis for more detailed chromosomal mapping of tumor suppressor and oncogenes. PURPOSE: We report our efforts to create an ideal continent urinary catheterizable stoma.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Our approach includes the creation of a continent stoma using a preputial penile island skin flap in male patients and a preputial clitoral island skin flap in female patients. A classification of vaginal anomalies has been derived, which permits logical operative decisions. This tool allows the assignment of increasingly involved reconstructive operations to progressively more complex vaginal anatomies. We report an unusual case of clitoral hypertrophy due to neurofibromatosis of the external genitalia. Because of no definite skin signs or other nervous or osseous symptoms such as are commonly found in neurofibromatosis, the patient was at first suspected of being a case of hermaphroditism. Finally, the disorder was properly diagnosed after laparotomy followed by clitorectomy. This patient seems to be the 12th case of clitoral neurofibroma reported in the English literature.

Genetic analysis previously suggested that the let-60 gene controls the switch between vulval and hypodermal cell fates during C. elegans vulval induction.
