BACKGROUND Ectopic testis is an uncommon congenital anomaly that has been reported in different sites in the body. The anterior abdominal wall is an exceptionally rare variant site for ectopic testis. The purpose of this case report is to highlight the importance of being aware of this rare clinical entity, thereby increasing the chance of preserving an ectopic testis. In addition, this case report shows how a laparoscopic approach is advantageous for better localizing and treating such rare cases, as this is the first reported case of such a condition to be managed with a laparoscopic approac

INTRODUCTION: Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome is a rare form of pseudohermaphroditism, possibly resulting from the absence of Mullerian duct inhibiting factor.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report the case of a 36 year-old patient with a syndrome of persistent Müllerian ducts (PMDS) of the female type. The Clinical examination revealed avacant scrotum, a normal penis. The spermogram analysis found azoospermia. Imaging using ultrasound and tomotensidometry found the presence of amass in the back of bladder. A Laparoscopic exploration revealed two slightly enlarged testicles, in a pelvic situatio

Perineal ectopic testis is a rare condition seen in less than 1% of all cases of undescended testis. In this study, we diagnosed a perineal ectopic testis in a 7-month-old physical examination. A solitary, oval mass on the lower and lateral side of the palpation right hemiscrotum was identified and this mass was defined as the correct testicle at the ultrasound of scrotal. Orchiopexy was performed following herniography, and the scrotum was attached to the scrotum using the dartos pouch technique. We believe that orchidopexy is the preferred treatment of choice.

Congenital testicular anomalies affect about 5% of newborn boys. Testicular torsion is a rare anomaly that occurs in 1 in 4000 men under the age of 25. Perineal ectopia is an even more rare anomaly. It occurs in less than 1% of all cases of cryptorchidism. In this study, we present a rare case of testicular torsion with perineal ectopia in a boy of 18 months. To establish the anomaly, we used Doppler ultrasound and MRI. We performed inguinal exploration with subsequent detorsion testis and orchiopexy using the dartos pouch technique.

Femoral hernias represent less than 10% of groin hernias and appear mainly in adult women; incarceration is more usual than in other hernias. Content found within the sac is commonly small bowel or omentum. Other anatomical structures, such as appendix, bladder, Meckel's diverticulum, ectopic testis, stomach and gynaecological organs are extremely unusual. A 48-year-old woman presented with intense right groin pain over 48 hours. Her past medical history revealed periodical moderate right groin pain coincident with her menstrual cycles, usually self-limited. No abdominal symptoms or fever were

Cryptorchidism refers to an absence of the testis in the scrotal sac. Testicular descent occurs in two stages: transabdominal and gubernacular. The descent of the testis can be arrested in its usual path of descent (true undescended testis) or can migrate from the usual path of descent (ectopic testis). Localising the missing testis is important for surgical planning, as well as for identification of complications that are more common with cryptorchidism. Ultrasound is the initial imaging modality to visualise, as well as localise the testis in cryptorchidism. However, ultrasound imaging is li

Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) with fused vas deferens is an extremely rare clinical entity. Herein, we present a case of a 19-year-old patient with persistent left testicular pain lasting for a week. Clinical examination revealed an empty right hemiscrotum, a normal left-sided descended testis, and in close proximity a mass-like structure resembling testicular parenchyma. Laboratory tests were significant for elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), while sperm count revealed azoospermia. Ultrasound imaging (US) of the scrotum demonstrated the presence of both testes in the same left

Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome is the result of either anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) deficiency or AMH receptor resistance. A long tubular structure was palpated during the physical examination of a 13-month-old male patient who had presented with bilateral undescended testes. At physical examination, the testes were not palpable. The patient's karyotype was XY, SRY (+), and his AMH level was 22 ng/mol. Structures suggestive of ovaries, a uterus, and fallopian tubes were observed during the laparoscopic examination of the ectopic testis. AMHR2 gene sequence analysis performed with a prelimi

Transverse testicular ectopia is an extremely rare anomaly, in which both the testis migrate towards the same hemiscrotum through the same inguinal canal. It is usually associated with other abnormalities such as persistent Mullerian duct syndrome, true hermaphroditism, inguinal hernia, pseudohermaphroditism, and scrotal anomalies; the association with inguinal hernia being the commonest. We, here, report a case of transverse testicular ectopia in a 12 years old boy having the ectopic testis in contralateral hemiscrotum without any inguinal hernia but having scrotal hypospadias with severe cho

INTRODUCTION: Cryptorchidism is common in children but is rare in the elderly. It often presents with a constellation of signs and symptoms similar to routine inguinal hernias. We present the case of an elderly man with cryptorchidism containing a Leydig cell tumor and provide clinical insights.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: An-84-year old man was admitted with an incarcerated right lower quadrant hernia. Both testes were absent on palpation of the scrotum. After reduction of the hernia, computed tomography scan revealed a round lesion in the hernia sac, which was suspected to be the ectopic testis.

INTRODUCTION: Transverse aberrant testicular maldescent is an extremely rare congenital anomaly characterized by the migration of one testicle towards the opposite inguinal canal. Mostly such cases are reported in children and they are very rarely seen in adults.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report a case of a 24year old male patient with left reducible indirect inguinal hernia with absence of testis in the right hemiscrotum. On surgical exploration, the patient had both the testicles on the left side. Left meshplasty with left orchidectomy for the atrophic ectopic testis was done.
DISCUSSION: It

BACKGROUND Abnormal testicular descent can either be undescended or, less commonly, ectopic. Most undescended testes complete the course of descent by the first year of life only if these remain in the normal path of descent. The deviation of the testis may occur to an ectopic location during the transinguinal phase. Of the known ectopic sites, the anterior abdominal wall is the rarest site of testicular ectopia and to our knowledge only 3 cases of this nature have been reported in the available literature to date. CASE REPORT This rare case of testicular ectopia occurred in a 3-day-old boy i

Triorchidism is the commonest variety of polyorchidism, an entity with more than two testis is an extremely rare congenital anomaly of the testis. Although excision of the abnormal testis is a safer alternative proposed, recent literature suggests more conservative approach in normal testes with watchful regular follow up to screen for malignancy. This case presented as a left inguinal swelling diagnosed as indirect left inguinal hernia. The left side testis was of smaller size (about half) with normal sperm count, morphology and motility. Intraoperatively indirect inguinal hernia was noted wi

Cryptorchidism is a condition in which one or both testes have not passed down into the scrotal sac. It is categorized as true undescended testis in which testes are present in the normal path of descent, and as ectopic testis, in which testes are present at abnormal site. Common complications of cryptorchidism are testicular torsion, subfertility, inguinal hernia, and testicular cancer. Here we present a rare case of pantaloon hernia of obstructed indirect component and direct component with cryptorchidism.

Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a rare form of ectopic testis observed in boys with a normal 46, XY karyotype. TTE can be associated with persistent Müllerian duct syndrome or other genital anomalies such as hypospadias. However, TTE concomitant with both persistent Müllerian duct remnants and hypospadias has never been reported in the literature. A case of chromosomal disorders of sex development with TTE and persistent Müllerian duct remnants, which was initially presumed to represent mixed gonadal dysgenesis, is presented.

We report an unusual case of an ectopic testis identified in a 37-year-old man presenting with acute severe right iliac fossa pain and an irreducible mass. Initially diagnosed as a Spigelian hernia, computed tomography and ultrasonography identified the presence of an ectopic testis in the abdominal wall. Interparietal testicular ectopia is an extremely rare condition. We present and discuss the first case in the literature of an ectopic testis located between the internal and external oblique muscle layers of the anterior abdominal wall in an adult.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Testicular ectopia is rare, but the large range of anatomical locations described in the literature has spawned an abundance of possible theories to explain etiology. However, as the anatomical characteristics of normal testicular descent have only been elucidated recently, many of the theories of testicular ectopia do not incorporate this new perspective. In this study we aimed to determine what was in the literature about ectopic testis since 1980, and then try to explain the different anatomical variants in the light of current knowledge about testicular descent.
