The presence of more than two testes confirmed by histology is called polyorchidism. Polyorchidism is an extremely rare congenital anomaly with a few more than 100 cases reported in the literature. The inguinal canal is an anatomically complex region. Although much has been written about the gubernaculum and the descent of the testis, little is known about the development of the abdominal wall itself. We dissected this inguinal canal in 75 fetuses between 10 and 25 weeks of gestation, 42 males and 33 females. INTRODUCTION: Polyorchidism is defined as the presence of more than two testes. The management of this rare condition is still debatable, particularly when it is an incidental finding at surgery.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of an 8-year-old boy with triorchidism found incidentally during an elective orchidopexy. This supernumerary, ectopic and atrophic testis was removed to avoid an increased risk of malignancy.

Polyorchidism is a rare urogenital abnormality. The authors report two cases in children aged 3 years and 5 years with left ectopic testis. Surgical exploration demonstrated two testes on the left side with a third testis on the right. Descent of the two testes into the left hemi-scrotum was performed. The authors review the management of polyorchidism in the light of these two cases.

The present study was conducted to clarify whether a gubernaculum abnormality exists in mobile testis or not. Testicular descent can be described in two phases, the transabdominal and the inguinoscrotal. During the inguinoscrotal phase, the testis may deviate from the normal path of descent and "migrate" to an abnormal location; this is called ectopic testis and is a relatively uncommon condition. The common sites for ectopic testes include the superficial inguinal pouch, the perineum, the opposite side of the scrotum, the femoral canal, and the pubopenile region. In addition to these well-recognized sites, preperitoneal and extracorporeal ectopic testes, which are extremely rare, have been reported.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to document the authors' experience with laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair in children.
METHODS: Ninety-three hernia repairs were performed in 64 children. The neck was closed with a purse string suture by using 4-0 absorbable suture.
