This review focuses on current understanding of prenatal, prepubertal and post-pubertal development of the male reproductive system of cattle. The critical developmental events occur during the first 3 to 4 months of gestation and the first ~6 to 9 months after birth. The Wilms Tumor-1 and SRY proteins play critical roles in early development and differentiation of the fetal testis, which in turn drives gestational development of the entire male reproductive system. Polyorchidism is a rare congenital anomaly with less than 200 case reports in literature. Triorchidism, the condition of having 3 testicles, is the most common presentation. We present an unusual case of a patient who was diagnosed with 5 testicles by magnetic resonance imaging. To the best of our knowledge, this rare presentation has not previously been reported in the medical literature.

Our objective was to assess the differential diagnostic value of classification of obstructive versus nonobstructive azoospermia by scrotal ultrasound. Forty patients with azoospermia were selected for our study (ages, 23-35; average, 29 ± 5.34 years). Patients were divided into the obstructive (17) or nonobstructive (23) azoospermia category. Twenty "Работает" volunteers were selected for the control group. We observed the testis, epididymis, and vas deferens in all subjects. Testicular volumes were calculated and compared with the control group for both obstructive and nonobstructive groups.

The scrotal wall may be involved in a variety of pathologic processes. Such lesions may rise primarily from the layers of the scrotum or may be due to a process arising from scrotal content. Imaging is not needed in most cases, but it may be useful for making such differentiations and for evaluation of possible involvement of the testes and epididymides in cases of primary wall abnormalities. An 18-month-old European shorthair cat was subjected to genetic studies due to ambiguous external genitalia (underdeveloped both penis and scrotum). Further anatomic and histopathological studies revealed the presence of abdominal, atrophic testes and uterus. Cytogenetic analysis showed two cell lines, one with X monosomy-37,X [90% of the analysed metaphase spreads], and other line had 38 chromosomes with normal X chromosome and abnormally small Y-derived chromosome-38,X,der(Y) [10%]. Further fluorescence in situ hybridization study with telomeric probe revealed a ring structure of the der(Y).

The authors present an update on ultrasound diagnosis and outcomes in testicular torsion and differentiation from other acute scrotal processes, as well as sonographic imaging of testicular microlithiasis and uncommon or atypical scrotal masses including splenogonadal fusion, polyorchidism, meconium peritonitis and epidermoid cyst. Hemiscrotal agenesis is among the rarest anomalies in scrotal development disorders. As it has only been reported in three cases, the clinical manifestations remain unclear. We report a case of hemiscrotal agenesis with ipsilateral cryptorchidism. We present the case of an infant born with scrotoschisis and evidence of meconium periorchitis and peritonitis. A scrotal defect was noted with exposure of the left testis and spermatic cord. Meconium peritonitis and periorchitis were confirmed on operative exploration. Given the history, cystic fibrosis was suspected, but initial screening and diagnostic tests were negative.
