Prostatic utricle cysts (PUCs) in males with normal external genitalia are rare and often asymptomatic. Minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as laparoscopic excision, have demonstrated effectiveness for symptomatic cases. This report highlights the advantages of a three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic approach in managing a large PUC in a 6-month-old boy. A 6-month-old male presenting with urinary obstruction and recurrent infections underwent diagnostic imaging and isotope renography, revealing a large PUC with associated nonfunctioning right ectopic kidney and ureter opening in the cys

Renal ectopia is a rare and usually asymptomatic anomaly. We report a cadaveric case of a 70-year-old male with the right pelvic polycystic kidney with two pairs of renal vessels and a curved right common iliac artery, observed during the routine dissection of the cadaver at a teaching institute. An ectopic kidney extended from the L4 to S1 vertebral levels. Its arterial supply consisted of a superior renal artery arising from the abdominal aorta just inferior to the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery, and an inferior renal artery originating from the aortic bifurcation. Similarly, venou

Pancake kidney (PK) is a rare anomaly, accounting for only 2% of all cases of fused kidneys. In this condition, the renal pelvis faces anteriorly, the ureters do not cross, and the collecting systems of the kidneys are separate, with no communication between the 2 sides. The PK may be associated with various urinary tract defects and anomalies in other organs. This report presents a case of an infant diagnosed with pelvic PK accompanied by ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction and an undescended right testis, representing an exceedingly rare combination of conditions. A 2-month-old male inf

Presenting with severe stomach pain from sigmoid volvulus, a woman in her 90s was effectively treated with colonoscopic desufflation. Interestingly, serial imaging over 16 years demonstrated gradual cranial displacement of the right kidney to the hepato-diaphragmatic space without prior trauma, surgery or congenital abnormalities. The patient remained asymptomatic with respect to renal function despite significant anatomical displacement. No specific intervention was required for the ectopic kidney. It is important to recognise the potential for organ migration associated with ageing, signific

Renal ectopia and malrotation are uncommon congenital anomalies that arise from abnormal kidney ascent and rotation during embryologic development. Although often discovered incidentally, these structural variations may alter venous drainage and predispose to stasis and thrombosis. Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) is rare in adults and usually occurs secondary to nephrotic syndrome, malignancy, dehydration, or hypercoagulable disorders. The coexistence of renal malrotation, ectopia, and spontaneous RVT in an otherwise healthy adult is exceptionally unusual. A 35-year-old woman presented with severe

BACKGROUND: Pelvic ectopic kidney is a kind of congenital malformations of urinary system due to the failure of ascent from the pelvis to the abdomen during development.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old man was referred to the urology department of our hospital for abdominal pain for half a month. Radiographic studies revealed stones in pelvic ectopic left kidney. Laparoscopy-assisted ultrasound-guiding percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) was performed. Postoperative plain film revealed that the patient achieved a stone-free status.
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopy-assisted ultrasound-guiding PCNL i

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Crossed fused renal ectopia is one of the rare congenital anomalies in which a kidney is found on the side opposite to its normal anatomical location and is fused with the contralateral kidney. Most patients are asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally.
CASE PRESENTATION: In this case report we present a 60 year old woman diagnosed with a left to right crossed fused renal ectopia with fusion of the left kidney to the inferior pole of the right kidney. The patient presented with vague abdominal pain and diagnosis was made with abdominal ultrasound and CT urography.

SUMMARY: Kabuki syndrome is a genetic disorder characterised by distinctive facial features, developmental delays, and multisystem congenital anomalies. Endocrine complications such as premature thelarche and short stature are common, whereas disorders of glycaemic control are less frequent. We describe a 23-year-old white female referred to the diabetes clinic for hyperglycaemia during haemodialysis. She was subsequently diagnosed with Kabuki syndrome based on characteristic clinical features, confirmed by detecting a heterozygous pathogenic variant in KMT2D. She was known to have had multipl

Crossed fused renal ectopia (CFRE) constitutes a rare congenital anomaly of the urinary tract, typically characterized by its predominantly asymptomatic nature and frequent incidental discovery. This case report delineates the clinical profile of a 56-year-old male admitted to our Prostate Cancer Outpatient Clinic due to elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, ultimately leading to the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The patient was asymptomatic, with no family or surgical background. Notably, a fused ectopic kidney was incidentally identified during the staging process involving abdomi

Pierre Robin sequence is a rare congenital disorder with variable associations. A two-year-old female child was brought in with complaints of an abnormal gait and right lower limb shortening. A comprehensive clinical evaluation unveiled facial characteristics resembling those of Pierre Robin Sequence, including micrognathia, a cleft palate, and glossoptosis. The child also exhibited retrognathia, a low posterior hairline, bilateral developmental dysplasia of the hips, right foot syndactyly, and a left ectopic kidney as confirmed by ultrasonography. Radiological examination showed bilateral dev

BACKGROUND: The ectopic pelvic kidney, a common renal anomaly, is often smaller and malformed, with a shorter and sometimes tortuous ureter (1). Muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), constituting 15-25% of bladder cancer cases (2), mandates radical cystectomy with a 50% 5-year survival rate (2). Despite the growing use of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) (3, 4), there is limited data on its application in ectopic kidneys. Only one RARC case has been reported (5), in contrast to numerous open radical cystectomies (1, 6) involving an ectopic kidney.

An ectopic ureter (EU) is a ureter that does not connect appropriately to the bladder and drains somewhere other than the urinary bladder. Ectopic ureter is not so common in kidney anomalies. In men, the EU usually opens near the prostate into the urethra; however, in females, it mainly opens into organs of reproduction or into the urethra. Differential diagnosis of urinary incontinence from other causes, such as EU has a potential cure through surgery. Most women with ectopic ureters have duplex kidneys. An EU emptying a single-system ectopic dysplastic but functioning kidney is uncommon, esp

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Ectopic pelvic kidneys are an extremely rare congenital renal system anomaly. This embryological occurrence transpires between the 4th and 8th gestational weeks, and is seen in 1 in every 2100-3000 births. Moreover, research articles indicate an incidence of ectopic pelvic kidneys ranging from 0.033 to 0.047%. The co-occurrence of this anomaly with an abdominal aortic aneurysm is an even rarer finding.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a rare case involving a 62-year-old Middle Eastern male with a right ectopic pelvic kidney. The condition initially manifested as vague

This report explores the diverse spectrum of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT), ranging from asymptomatic presentations to the most severe form characterized by bilateral renal agenesis. Genitourinary anomalies, a prevalent subset within this domain, account for a significant proportion, constituting 15-20% of anomalies identified during prenatal screening. An ectopic kidney is defined by the presence of an empty renal fossa and the displacement of the kidney from the lumbar region to alternative locations, with the pelvic region emerging as the most prevalent site.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Renal ectopia, a rare congenital anomaly, can occur in various body regions and may be associated with other abnormalities. It is often asymptomatic, commonly found incidentally, as in our 70-year-old patient during appendicitis exploration. This case highlights the importance of recognizing renal ectopia and associated anomalies, such as vascular abnormalities and renal malrotation, which may predispose patients to potential complications and require vigilant monitoring for urinary tract infections and lithiasis events, as well as potential challenges during lapar

Urothelial tumors in patients with anatomical abnormalities may pose significant challenges. Management follows the same principles which are employed in normal anatomy, however, thorough diagnostic investigation is warranted in order to delineate key anatomical landmarks. Meticulous pre-operative investigation should utilize every imaging modality which can assist the surgeons. We present a case of transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) in a crossed-fused kidney treated with nephro-ureterectomy. Only a handful of cases of TCC in CFRE have been reported. The case demonstrates the critical role of p
