BACKGROUND: Tibial plateau fractures (TPF) are complex intra-articular injuries carrying a high risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), muscular vein thrombosis (MVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Preoperative thrombosis is frequently clinically silent yet may cause serious complications, whereas its detection delays definitive surgery. This study assessed the prevalence and risk factors of preoperative venous thromboembolic events (VTE) in surgically treated TPF before and after implementation of routine duplex ultrasound screening.

Treatment opportunities using the enfortumab vedotin plus pembrolizumab (EV+P) combination are expanding for patients with unresectable or metastatic urothelial carcinoma. We report the case of a 93-year-old man with bladder cancer and lung metastases who received EV+P therapy and achieved a complete response. By omitting the dose on EV Day 8 and then extending the dosing interval based on adverse events and patient-reported outcomes, it was possible to continue treatment while maintaining complete response.
