We report a case of ovarian torsion around a remnant of the urachus. Though it usually develops into the median umbilical ligament, abnormalities in urachal development can occur which can lead to remnants being present in the adult abdomen. This case describes a young female who had intermittent lower abdominal pain over a period of three weeks. During this period several ultrasound scans were performed which reported different anatomy and possible causes of the pain. INTRODUCTION: The classical management of urachal remants consists in surgical resection, in order to prevent infections and long term malignancies. The simultaneous occurrence of a Meckel's diverticulum and a patent urachus is very uncommon. We describe the occurrence and surgical treatment of Meckel's diverticulum and an urachal anomaly in a 1-year-old boy. The patient had intermittent production of clear fluid from the patent urachus, which disappeared after surgical resection.

The urachus is an embryologic remnant which degenerates after the birth. Defective obliteration of the urachus leads to urachal abnormalities. An infected urachal cyst is one of the urachal abnormalities and this pathology is rare in adult women. We report a case of 33-year-old woman with pelvic pain and dysuria who was diagnosed with infected urachal cyst. Infected urachal cyst is a rare pathology in adult women and this pathology should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen.

Abnormalities in the closure of the intraembryonic portion of the allatoic lumen result in urachal abnormalities. Urachal remnant diseases are rare in adults. Malignant urachal neoplasms, like adenocarcinoma which may probably occur due to metaplasia of the transitional epithelium of the urachal remnant are very rare. Surgical excision of the urachus is needed. The imaging features of the urachal abnormalities are important for correct diagnosis and surgical management.

Urachal fistula is a neonatal condition. There are two reported forms: a congenital and an acquired form. We describe the case of a 6-hour-old female alpaca cria that was presented with a damp umbilicus and a meconium impaction. Conservative treatment of the urachal fistula with local and systemic medication was unsuccessful after 6 days; therefore, a resection of the umbilicus under general anaesthesia was performed. Reconvalescence was uneventful.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to assess the prognostic significance of a cystic vesico-allantoic communication discovered on prenatal ultrasound in terms of its effect on the developing urinary tract.
METHODS: Multi-institution review of prenatal screening ultrasound was performed between 2004 and 2015 to identify cases of in utero communication between the fetal urinary bladder and a cystic dilatation of the umbilical cord. Gestational age at diagnosis, perinatal evolution, and eventual urinary tract outcome are described and compared with existing literature.

Urachal anomalies are most often seen in children, seldom in adults, but are in general considered rare. The estimated incidence is one in 5000-7000 live births and appears twice as common in males. Despite their rarity, they need to be considered by clinicians, as diseases in the urachus can mimic many abdominal and pelvic conditions and constitute an important differential diagnosis to these.
