Mazabraud syndrome was first described in 1926 by Henschen, consisting of the association between bone fibrodysplasia and one or more intramuscular myxomas. The study paper conducted by Mazabraud et al. in 1967, described an association between the two pathologies. Later literature referred to this relationship with the eponym described above. In this report, we present the case of a 43-year-old female patient with a known diagnosis of bone fibrodysplasia and subsequent development of a right antecubital fossa mass, which was histologically confirmed as intramuscular myxoma. After the removal

Mazabraud syndrome is a rare benign disease that is accompanied by polyostotic fibrous dysplasia and intramuscular myxoma. Malignant transformation of fibrous dysplasia occurs in approximately 1% of cases. To date, only eight cases of malignant transformation, of fibrous dysplasia to osteosarcoma, in Mazabraud syndrome have been reported worldwide. The authors report the first case of osteosarcomatous transformation in a patient with Mazabraud syndrome in the Republic of Korea, focusing on imaging findings.

McCune-Albright syndrome is a rare condition consisting of triad of fibrous dysplasia, hyperfunctioning endocrinopathy, and café au lait macules of skin. A 31-year-old man was diagnosed with fibrous dysplasia 18 years before presenting with pathologic fracture. No workup for polyostotic fibrous dysplasia was performed at that time. He now presented with left facial swelling and skeletal features of acromegaly. MRI revealed a 15-cm enhancing tumor diagnosed histopathologically as high-grade osteosarcoma. Tc-methylene diphosphonate bone scintigraphy revealed decreased uptake at the tumor site co

Fibrous dysplasia, including McCune-Albright syndrome, is a genetic, non-inheritable benign bone disorder that may involve a single or multiple bone, typically occurring in the diaphysis or the metaphysis of long bones. In very rare instances polyostotic fibrous dysplasia present involvement of the epiphysis in long bones. Aneurysmal bone cysts are benign, expansile, lytic bone lesions formed by cystic cavities containing blood, that may occur de novo or secondary to other lesions of bone, including fibrous dysplasia. We report a case of an 18-year-old female with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia

BACKGROUND: McCune-Albright Syndrome (MAS) is a genetic disorder with a triad of endocrine diseases, café-au-lait macules and fibrous dysplasias. Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia is a term that is used to describe the fibrous dysplasia, which was localized at the craniofacial skeleton and is common in MAS patients.
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this review is to determine the involvement frequency of cranial and facial bones in patients with MAS and CFD.
METHODS: Articles in PubMed was searched with the following details "(mccune[Title/Abstract] OR albright[Title/Abstract]) OR ("craniofacial fib

McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS), a rare genetic disorder, affects multiple organs and classically presents with the triad of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia (FD), skin hyperpigmentation (café-au-lait spots) and precocious puberty. Diagnosis occurs when patients manifest at least two of these three symptoms. We describe a 4-year-old girl who was admitted to our hospital due to recurrent vaginal bleeding, initially diagnosed as precocious puberty. On brain MRI, abnormalities in the maxillary and occipital bones were compatible with FD. Clinical examination after craniofacial bone lesions and clinic

INTRODUCTION: McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS) is a genetic disorder defined by fibrous dysplasia of bone, café-au-lait skin spots, and autonomous hyperfunction of one or more endocrine organs. MAS is caused by activating mutations of the GNAS1 gene. The most frequent type of endocrinopathy is gonadal endocrinopathy in the form of peripheral precocious puberty.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical characteristics, laboratory and imaging tests at the time of diagnosis and over the course of the disease, focusing on the classical triad of MAS.

BACKGROUND: McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS) is a rare heterogeneous genetic disorder that is characterized by a triad of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia (FD), café au lait spots (CAL), and multiple hyperfunctional endocrinopathies. In general, it is diagnosed clinically. From the triads, two of the findings are enough to make the diagnosis, but genetic testing can be done if it is available. Case Presentation. We report a female child who was symptomatic since the neonatal period with skin hyperpigmentation, breast enlargement, and vaginal bleeding. She was diagnosed with MAS at the age of five y

The patient, a boy born in 1991, showed pronounced polyostotic fibrous dysplasia due to McCune-Albright syndrome, as well as Gilbert syndrome and Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathy caused by a DNM2 mutation. In addition, the patient, his sister, mother and maternal grandfather had intermittently increased plasma arginine and lysine levels, most probably due to heterozygosity for a novel pathogenic SLC7A2 variant.

INTRODUCTION: On-the-go (OTG) reference is defined as the reference that clinicians make on the go in a narrow time frame during patient care, which tends to play a significant role in decision-making. The common sources of these references over the years, have been changing from hard copies of textbooks and journals to online platforms. With the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) based large language model (LLM) platforms, they are now being relied upon for these OTG references to provide clinicians with the necessary facts to make good clinical decisions by analyzing the maximum av

We report on a patient having McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS) associated with non-autoimmune hyperthyroidism associated with thyrotoxic crisis. Polyostotic fibrous dysplasia developed at age 8, and café-au-lait pigmentation was noted on the skin. At age 18, he developed hyperthyroidism with multiple adenomatous changes. The hyperthyroidism had been controlled with an antithyroid drug, but the antithyroid medication was discontinued by the patient at age 23. One year later, thyrotoxic crisis developed with fever, convulsions and loss of consciousness. Thyroid function tests showed serum concentr

PURPOSE: Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia (CFD) is a subtype of fibrous dysplasia/McCune-Albright syndrome (FD/MAS) characterized by FD lesions in one or more of the skull bones. The orbit is often involved, with facial pain, facial deformity, and increased risk of compressive optic neuropathy as associated clinical manifestations possibly leading to altered illness perceptions and impairments in quality of life(QoL). The aim of this study was to evaluate illness perceptions and QoL in patients with CFD among our FD/MAS cohort.
METHODS: One hundred ninety-one patients were included. Illness per

We report a rare case of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia with maxillofacial dysmorphia diagnosed in the radiology department at Hopital Sominé Dolo of Mopti. The aim was to describe the role of medical imaging including the CT scan in its diagnosis. He was a 42-year-old man of rural origin with poor socio-economic conditions. He was sent to us for a craniofacial CT scan for assessment of a maxillofacial mass. This CT scan showed a thickening of the diploid of the vault and the cranial base with osteocondensation and osteolytic lesions at the maxillofacial level. An extension assessment showed po

BACKGROUND: Dysplastic gangliocytoma is a sporadic cerebellar benign tumor with the characteristics of hamartoma and true tumor, also known as Lhermitte-Duclos disease (LDD). Bone fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a slowly progressive self-limited benign bone tissue disease. Cowden syndrome, an autosomal dominant genetic disorder caused by germline mutations in the PTEN gene, is considered to be closely related to dysplastic gangliocytoma. McCune-Albright syndrome is a disease characterized by café-au-lait skin macules, polyostotic FD, and precocious puberty. The etiologic mechanism of both conditions

BACKGROUND: We evaluated the preoperative natural growth pattern of craniofacial fibrous dysplasia and postoperative volume changes in patients undergoing shaving procedures.
METHODS: Thirty-three patients who underwent serial computed tomography (CT) preoperatively and/or postoperatively were identified. The natural tumor growth rate was assessed using preoperative CT scans. The postoperative tumor regrowth rates and relevant variables were analyzed.
RESULTS: The preoperative tumor growth rates were significantly lower in patients aged ≥ 16 years than in those aged < 16 years (P < .001). Th

Sinonasal organized hematomas (OHs) are rare lesions that primarily localize to the maxillary sinus. The rate of growth of these masses has not been described in the literature. We present a case of a 59-year-old gentleman with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia who presented with acute loss of vision in the left eye from an expanding OH of the sphenoid sinusitis. After expanded endonasal, transpterygoid approach and debulking, patient experienced significant vision improvement. Close follow-up imaging preoperatively allowed radiologic documentation of the rate of OH growth and this is presented in
