Three new cases of placental candidiasis are reported. Two were associated with fetal cutaneous candidiasis and one with fetal systemic candidiasis. The systemic case was associated with an intrauterine contraceptive device. Infection of the placenta results in small 'granulomata' under the surface of the cord and a diffuse chorioamnionitis of the membranes and chorionic plate. A 23 year old, gravida O, conceived 18 months following insertion of a copper containing IUD. At 10 weeks; gestation the IUD was removed. At 42 weeks' gestation, an infant was delivered normally, with severe upper limb reduction deformities and other minor malformations. Three recent case reports have suggested an association between failed intrauterine device (IUD) contraception and limb reduction deformities in the resulting offspring. We present an analysis of 400 intralobar and 133 extralobar sequestrations, six cases presenting intra- and extralobar sequestration simultaneously, five sequestrations of one whole lung, and two bilateral intralobar sequestrations. A simple dose-saving procedure for the diagnosis of congenital hip dysplasia employing a diaphragm in nearfocus position is presented. Doses to the skin and the gonads were measured with a phantom for the new and other techniques. With optimal techniques the skin dose is smaller than 2 mR and the gonadal doses lie around 0.1 mR for both male and female patients. An estimate of the dose burden from undesired radiation is appended.

Hemidiaphragmatic defects were created in ten pups and repaired with Silastic Sheeting (Dow-Corning .007 u) to determine the long-term results of prosthetic replacement of the diaphragm in growing subjects. Six cases of anomalous muscle band of the right ventricle associated to other cardiac congenital malformations are described. In five of them ventricular septum defect was present; in one aortic valvular stenosis with supravalvular diaphragm, plus right pulmonary artery stenosis. Modification in pathophysiology of ventricular septum defect due to the obstacle represents by the anomalous muscle band in the right ventricle are discussed in detail. In every case corrected diagnosis was suggested by right ventricle angiography.
