Multicentric cancer of the pectoral and ectopic breasts is extremely rare, and diagnosing this malignancy remains challenging because axillary breast cancer is easily misdiagnosed as lymph node metastasis. Moreover, there are no established treatment guidelines for this disease. We present our experience with a multicentric breast cancer patient who showed different responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and underwent surgical treatments that differed from those in previous studies. In our case, the preoperative imaging of both lesions and subsequent core needle biopsy of each lesion were

Accessory breast occurs due to the persistence of milk line in the non-thoracic region. Malignant transformation in male accessory breast is very rare, with 16 reports documented across the world. No bilateral synchronous accessory male breast cancer has been reported. We present the first case reported globally of a man in his 70s with a complaint of left axillary lump and chronic rash for 3 years. About 1 year ago, additional reddish rash was detected in the right axilla. Initial skin biopsy from a private hospital confirmed mammary carcinoma with skin invasion. Subsequent left breast mastec

INTRODUCTION: Fibroadenoma is the most common benign breast tumor among women between 15 and 35 years, however, a fibroadenoma arising from accessory breast tissue is a rare occurrence.
CASE PRESENTATION: We encountered this uncommon presentation in a 37 years old female with a gradually increasing left axillary lump associated with discomfort. On ultrasound it was a 17.3 mm × 10.6 mm x 17.5 mm well defined solid nodule with internal vascularity, BiRADS IVa lesion. Core biopsy revealed fibroepithelial lesion and the patient electively underwent excisional biopsy. Histopathology confirmed the

Primary accessory breast cancer is an extremely rare pathology, representing less than 1 % of all breast cancers, and it is found in more than 90 % of cases in the axilla. The diagnosis of accessory axillary breast cancer (AABC) is often late and at an advanced stage with an average delay of 40.5 months. Histological sampling and immunohistochemical results confirm the diagnosis. Most patients are diagnosed with stage II disease or higher, so it is considered to have a poor prognosis. There is no specific management for AABC; it follows the guidelines for orthotopic pectoral breast cancer. We

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide. In men, cases of breast cancer are few and account for less than 1% of all cases of breast cancer. Majority of male breast cancer is hormone receptor-positive. The incidence of male breast cancer derived from axillary accessory breast is very low. Here we report a case of male triple negative axillary accessory breast cancer.
CASE DESCRIPTION: We present a case of male triple negative axillary accessory breast cancer in a 67-year-old man, which progressively increased in size through a period of 1 year. Ultrasound

Carcinoma of the accessory breast tissue (CABT) is an extremely rare occurrence, representing 0.3% of all breast malignancies. A 65-year-old, postmenopausal woman was referred to our Breast Clinic complaining of a palpable, growing, and painful mass in her right axilla. Physical examination revealed a palpable tender mass, approximately 3 cm in size, visibly infiltrating the overlying skin area, while physical examination of the breast revealed no palpable lesions. Core biopsy of the mass was promptly scheduled, and the histological report came back positive for Nottingham Grade II NST invasiv

BACKGROUND: Accessory breast carcinomas of the axilla of males are rare, and primary breast neuroendocrine tumors (BNETs) are rare as well. We present a case of a BNET arising in the axilla of a man.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 64-year-old Japanese man presented with a hard 15-mm mass in the axilla and axillary lymph node swelling. Histopathological examination of the incisional biopsy specimen revealed a neuroendocrine carcinoma. Therefore, wide radical excision of the axillary tumor and axillary lymph node dissection were performed. Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed that the solid tumor was ma

Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the breast that usually occurs in women of reproductive age. However, GM during pregnancy is unusual and only one case of GM in the accessory breast has been reported so far. Here, we report an extremely rare case of GM in the accessory axillary breast of a pregnant woman. A 24-year-old pregnant woman had persistent pain and swelling in the right axilla that did not improve with antibiotic administration. Despite incision and drainage for subcutaneous abscess, the incised skin gradually became ulcerated, exposing the subcutaneous

PURPOSE: High-intensity focused ultrasound ablation (HIFU) is emerging as more data on its efficacy arises for prostate cancer (PCa). However, it is indefinite whether to combine endoscopic resection and uncertain to say who the ideal candidates are for the combined treatment. Therefore, we aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to compare outcomes of sole HIFU therapy with that of HIFU in combination with endoscopic resection in patients with localized PCa.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic databases were searched following the PRISMA guidelines and PICOS formats. The inclusion criteria were as fo

BACKGROUND: Male cases of accessory breast carcinoma and sweat gland carcinoma associated with extramammary Paget's disease of the axilla are uncommon. In clinical diagnosis and treatment, it is necessary to determine the disease carefully and make a reasonable treatment strategy according to the patient's situation.
CASE PRESENTATION: We described two male cases of the special tumor with an axillary mass as the first clinical symptom, one of which was diagnosed as accessory breast cancer and the other as sweat gland cancer associated with extramammary Paget's disease. We treated the two dise

BACKGROUND: Accessory breast(s) is defined as the presence of more than two breasts with or without a nipple and areola in human beings. It may occur anywhere along the primitive embryonic milk lines, which extend from the axilla to the groin. Accessory breast tissue can potentially undergo the same physiological and pathological processes as the normally located breast, including lactational change, fibroadenoma, and carcinoma. Although common in the normally located breast tissue, the incidence of fibroadenoma in accessory breast tissue is rare. Furthermore, if the swelling occurs in the axi

INTRODUCTION: We intend to determine the diagnostic power of fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) for differentiation between malignant and benign lesions on axillary masses and draw the physicians' attention to the benefits of FNAB cytology in the diagnosis of axillary masses.
METHODS: In this study, 1,328 patients with an axillary mass diagnosed by FNAB were retrospectively reviewed. These cases were registered at the affiliated hospital of Southwest Medical University (China), July 2014 to June 2017. Cytological results were verified either by histopathology following surgical resection or

BACKGROUND: Patients with fibroadenomas in axillary accessory breasts (AABs) have a palpable mass, cyclic axillary pain, and aesthetic concerns that must be addressed. We compared the baseline patient characteristics, AAB characteristics, and surgical outcomes of patients with AABs with and without fibroadenomas undergoing surgical excision. We also monitored the patients for recurrence of axillary fibroadenomas.
METHODS: This retrospective study involved 2310 women who underwent AAB excision from 2014 to 2019. Patients with and without a palpable fibroadenoma were divided into a fibroadenoma

Accessory breast tissue (ABT) is found in approximately 2%-6% of the female population and are subject to most of the physiological and pathological changes that occur in pectoral breast. Primary breast cancer occurring in ABT is a rare occurrence and a second primary breast cancer occurring in an accessory breast has never been reported. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with a history of mastectomy for left breast cancer 5 years prior to presentation, who presented with an enlarging right axilla mass found to be a second primary breast cancer in an accessory tissue on biopsy. Ectopic breast tissue (EBT) is relatively common and can occur along the milk line or mammary ridge and often outside this line. We report a case of a female patient presenting with a suprapubic mass for 2 years, found later to be EBT containing a fibroadenoma. We believe this is a very rare finding. Moreover, we highlight the importance of considering EBT in the differential diagnoses of soft tissue masses.

Ectopic breast tissue is the presence of retained breast tissue along the embryologic mammary ridge, also known as the milk line. Accessory tissue can be located anywhere along or outside the anatomic milk line extending from the axilla to the groin. Ectopic breast tissue can undergo the same physiologic and pathologic changes seen in normal breast tissue, such as fibroadenomas, fibrocystic changes, and malignancy. The wide range of clinical presentations and symptomatology can pose a significant diagnostic challenge, and clinicopathologic correlation is key in establishing the diagnosis. In t
