A case of infantile XX male syndrome with bilateral scrotal testes and penoscrotal hypospadias is presented. No evidence of XX/XY mosaicism of Y chromatin was obtained in preparations from cultures of the peripheral blood, skin fibroblast, or other tissues. Although true hermaphroditism was suspected, exploration of the bilateral gonadal structures failed to detect the presence of ovarian structures, either grossly or microscopically. Furthermore, exploratory laparotomy revealed no Mullerian structures. The difficulty of early diagnosis of XX males in infancy is emphasized.

Three new cases of true hermaphroditism are described: a 14-year-old patient with a testis on one side and an ovotestis on the other side and a 11-year-old patient as well as a 6-year-old patient both with an ovary on the one side and an ovotestis on the other side. Three patients with hemiagenesis of the typhoid gland are described. One was clinically euthyroid, whereas the other two were more unusual in that one had coincident Graves' disease with thyrotoxicosis, and one had primary myxodema. Ultrasonic A scans of the thyroid have been carried out on 47 patients with suspected thyroid disease. It was possible to measure the antero-posterior diameter of each lobe and to identify whether the tissue was homogeneous, nodular or cystic. Two families in which more than two members had Alport's syndrome were examined. Serum-antithyroid-antibodies were found in all those with Alport's syndrome and some of their relatives.
