Safety and Efficacy of MA01-100: A Prospective Multicenter Trial of China's First Domestic Implantable Cardiac Monitor.

BACKGROUND: Unexplained syncope and palpitations are common chief complaints in the outpatient department of cardiology. Their sporadic and unpredictable poses significant diagnostic challenges. Implantable cardiac monitors (ICMs) can monitor arrhythmia events efficiently, and can overcome the shortcomings of traditional electrocardiogram (ECG) detection tools such as Holter. However, the high cost of imported ICM devices limits accessibility for patients in China. The MA01-100 (Singular Medical, Suzhou, China), the first domestically developed ICM, may offer a cost-effective alternative. This

When Warm Meets Cold: Mixed-Type Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia Revealing an Underlying Autoimmune Disorder.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a rare immune-mediated disorder caused by autoantibodies directed against red blood cell antigens. Mixed-type AIHA, characterized by the coexistence of warm-reactive IgG and cold-reactive complement-fixing antibodies, is uncommon and often diagnostically challenging due to overlapping serologic features and transfusion incompatibility. We report the case of a 40-year-old woman who presented with an acute onset of breathlessness, palpitations, and severe fatigability. She was found to have severe anemia (hemoglobin 2.7 g/dL), reticulocytosis, indirect hyper

Thyroid collision tumor and Graves' disease: A case report and review of literature.

BACKGROUND: Collision tumors of the thyroid are rare entities, defined by the coexistence of two histologically distinct tumors within the same organ, separated by intervening normal tissue. Graves' disease (GD) is a well-known risk factor for papillary thyroid cancer but has not been associated with thyroid collision tumor or medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). CASE SUMMARY: A 37-year-old female presented with palpitations, weight loss, and tremors. Thyroid function tests showed suppressed thyrotropin and slightly elevated free thyroxine. A thyroid ultrasound was performed with a report of a nod

Recurrent ventricular tachycardia associated with non-compliance with thyroxine treatment for hypothyroidism.

A female in her early 30s with a previous history of postpartum granulomatous hypophysitis presented with palpitations and a syncopal episode. She was haemodynamically unstable on arrival with a heart rate of 180 bpm and a blood pressure of 80/60 mm Hg. Electrocardiography revealed polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT), requiring immediate defibrillation. Her baseline ECG showed a markedly prolonged corrected QT (QTc) interval of 581 ms. Despite antiarrhythmic therapy, she experienced a VT storm, necessitating multiple defibrillations, and progressed to moderate left ventricular systolic dy

Successful rescue of aconitine poisoning with extended cardiopulmonary resuscitation combined with hemoperfusion: A case report and literature review.

RATIONALE: Aconitine, a highly toxic alkaloid derived from Aconitum plants, exhibits a narrow therapeutic window, with a poisonous dose as low as 0.2 mg and lethal dose of 2 to 5 mg. Currently, no specific antidote exists for aconitine poisoning, which frequently triggers refractory electrical storms and cardiopulmonary arrest, culminating in high mortality. Elderly patients face particularly dire prognoses due to diminished physiological reserves. This study evaluated the efficacy of extended cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) combined with hemoperfusion (HP) as a rescue strategy for aconiti

Nedaplatin induced QT prolongation with polymorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmia: clinical experience and review of literature.

BACKGROUND: Nedaplatin (NDP), a cisplatin derivative, is widely employed in the treatment of solid tumours. Commonly reported adverse effects include hypersensitivity, myelosuppression and nephrotoxicity. To date, QT-interval prolongation and polymorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmia have not been attributed to NDP. A 41-year-old Asian woman was referred to our institution with abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting. Percutaneous biopsy confirmed a diagnosis of high-grade serous carcinoma with widespread metastatic dissemination. She sequentially received a PD-1 inhibitor, paclitaxel and NDP. Tw

Heart Palpitations and Lifestyle Habits Among Jordanian School Children: A Cross-Sectional Study.

INTRODUCTION: Palpitations, although often benign, can be distressing to adolescents and occasionally indicate underlying cardiac disease. Lifestyle factors such as sleep, caffeine, energy drinks, and screen time are potential contributors, but their impact hasn't been studied in Jordan. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 779 Jordanian schoolchildren aged 12-18 years using a structured questionnaire assessing palpitations and lifestyle habits. Associations were analysed with chi-square tests and t-tests. RESULTS: Palpitations were reported by 43% of participants and were more c
