Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly progressive, life-threatening infection originating in a fascial plane which requires emergency surgery. Neurocutaneous dysesthesia manifests as abnormal sensations, such as itching, pain, or burning, often without visible skin lesions. The condition is caused by peripheral or central nerve damage or compression. There are many different forms of neurocutaneous dysesthesia, depending on the location and the nerves involved. A well-known example is post-herpetic neuralgia, whereas brachioradial pruritus and notalgia paresthetica are less recognized. Diagnosis requires a thorough medical history and recognition of typical clinical patterns. Treatment ranges from local therapies to systemic agents.
