A patient presented with tracking of pus from a chronic appendiceal abscess along the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. In the absence of such a tunnel, which is only present in a small proportion of individuals, the infection would have resulted in a subinguinal psoas abscess. Occupational exposure to fenvalerate, a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, has been reported to cause paresthesia. Skin infections, both bacterial and viral, are endemic in contact sports such as wrestling and rugby football. In this report, we describe four cases of extensive cutaneous herpes simplex virus in players on a rugby team. All players had a prodrome of fever, malaise, and anorexia with a weight loss of 3.6 to 9.0 kg. Two players experienced ocular lesions associated with cutaneous vesicular lesions of the face. During 1955-1961 in south-east Turkey, over 3000 patients developed porphyria due to ingestion of hexachlorobenzene, a fungicide added to wheat seedlings. Changes in perception of pure thermal stimuli delivered to the hand at threshold intensity were observed during ischemic nerve block in 27 healthy subjects in order to study the significance of unmyelinated cutaneous cold receptors for thermal sensibility. Thirty-nine patients received 600 mg/m2 OF MGBG intravenously every week for the treatment of advanced refractory ovarian cancer. Twenty-seven of these received adequate trials, and only two had partial remissions lasting 3 1/2 and 4 months each. Toxicity was substantial, with severe hematologic toxicity in 26%, diarrhea in 22% (severe in 7%), skin rash in 26% (severe in 7%), and vomiting in 70% (severe in 11%). Fatigue, facial paresthesias, and flushing during drug administration were frequent. It appears that MGBG in this dose and schedule has little activity against advanced ovarian cancer.

Different schemes of prospidin administration to 54 patients were evaluated. Stage IV paresthesia or renal derangements are limitations of prospidin treatment due to its toxicity. Four patients with Bannwarth's syndrome were examined. One to three weeks weeks after the appearance of a large erythematous skin lesion they developed pain of variable localisation. Observations have been made on nine cases of painful diabetic neuropathy of acute onset. All cases were male and all were associated with and preceded by precipitous and severe weight loss. A New technique for recording somatosensory evoked potentials after stimulation of the cutaneous femoris lateralis nerve is described. It has proven useful in two patients where the diagnosis of meralgia paresthetica was raised. The use of this relatively easy technique is suggested in the diagnosis of meralgia paresthetica.
