Twenty patients with Urethral stricture disease presenting with difficulty in micturition, azoospermia, and oligospermia were studied. Only 5% of our patients could firmly claim to be fertile at the time of presentation with a rise to 80% fertility rate at the end of management. A new, original self-retaining intraurethral catheter (IUC), 30-60 mm long, was inserted into the urethra and bladder neck in 34 patients with urinary retention due to benign prostatic hyperplasia. The placement of the IUC is easily done under local anesthesia in the outpatient clinic. Before insertion, all the patients had had an indwelling catheter for weeks or months. In 29 patients (85.3%) the IUC was left in place from 2-38 weeks (mean 13.8). These patients voided satisfactorily and were fully continent. A 14-year-old boy with Langerhans cell histiocytosis of the spinal cord who presented with progressive enlarged bilateral inguinal masses, difficulty in urination, walking and paresthesia in the left lower extremity and perineum is reported. Radiographic studies and computerized axial tomography of T12 to L2 spines showed destruction of the vertebral body of L1 and left-sided paravertebral soft tissue mass extending into the vertebral canal with complete block of the dural sac at the level of L1 spine. The operative finding was an extradural mass at the anterolateral aspect of L1 to L2 spines.

Stricture of the anastomosis between the bladder neck and membranous urethra after radical prostatectomy can cause significant voiding dysfunction. Of 156 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for localized prostatic carcinoma 18 had anastomotic stricture for an over-all incidence of 11.5%. In a study of 265 patients questioned in immediate post-partum, the authors observed a urinary incontinence during pregnancy in 46.4% of the cases and a post-partum incontinence in 21.5% of the cases. The therapeutic management of the complications of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) depends on the early recognition of these complications. A review of 720 cases revealed the incidence of significant complications to be less than 4%. An algorithm was developed as a guideline for the diagnosis and management of complications of PNL. The diffuse retroperitoneal extravasation of urine most often secondary to an ureteric calculus may present as a surgical emergency with localized or general abdominal symptoms. Voiding dysfunction was evaluated in 16 of 17 patients with human T-lymphotropic virus type-1 associated myelopathy (HAM). Among 16 patients 11 had both frequency and difficulty in voiding and 12 had urge incontinence of urine. Ten patients with renal pelvic stones were treated by rigid ureterorenoscopy. Ultrasound lithotriptor and biopsy forceps were used for disintegrating the stones. Delayed bladder perforation with peritonitis following augmentation enterocystoplasty in children with spina bifida is a serious and potentially life-threatening complication. Our experience with 4 such cases is presented. All patients had spina bifida with a neuropathic bladder and they had undergone augmentation enterocystoplasty with a tubular colonic segment of large bowel as part of an undiversion procedure.
