Diffuse axonal injury (DAI) is a microscopic damage of axons in the brain. Its occurrence results from head trauma with acceleration or deceleration. This article presents current knowledge about DAI and two cases of patients who experienced DAI as a consequence of a traffic accident. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Stroke is an uncommon cause of amnesia. We describe in detail 3 cases of anterograde amnesia and confabulation secondary to acute ischemic stroke and review the available literature.
RECENT FINDINGS: In our case series, all 3 patients presented with anterograde amnesia and 2 of 3 copresented with prominent confabulation. These symptoms were recognized in delayed fashion, and no patients received IV tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). Primary phlebitis of the central nervous system (PPCNS) is a rare condition that might be a subset of primary angiitis of the CNS. In this case report, the patient was a 39-year-old man with a 2-week history of anterograde amnesia and abnormal behaviours. BACKGROUND: Remimazolam, a benzodiazepine ultra-short-acting sedative, has been used in general anesthesia since August 2020. It is used in awake surgeries that require awakening the patient in the middle of the surgery because of its rapid awakening effect as well as antagonistic interactions.
