We studied the clinical features of thirty-two patients with delayed pressure urticaria, and special laboratory tests were performed in seven patients. Echocardiography (echo) is frequently performed postoperatively to evaluate patients suspected of having cardiac tamponade or pericarditis. Knowledge of urticarial vasculitis is very important, because its therapy and prognosis are different to other clinically similar diseases, eg idiopathic urticaria. We report 2 cases with different radiological presentations of vertebral pyogenic osteomyelitis. The underlying pathogenic mechanisms are discussed. Bone pain and tenderness associated with an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate are the most frequent clinical features that should alert the clinician to this diagnosis. This condition frequently escapes early diagnosis and is often considered late in the differential diagnosis of back pain.

The use of N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) to diagnose the site of urinary tract infection was studied in pediatric patients. Intervertebral disc space infection is an uncommon, but serious, complication of disc surgery. By a retrospective chart review, we identified 27 patients at our institution who had a postoperative disc space infection; 14 were diagnosed and treated within the last 5 years. Seventy one patients with renal tumors treated at our clinic during the 11 years from 1970 to 1980 were clinically examined. The results are summarized as follows. The frequency of patients with renal tumors was 0.22% of the outpatients and 1.72% of the inpatients. Of the 71 renal tumors, 41 were renal adenocarcinoma, and 26 were renal pelvic tumors of which 23 were transitional cell tumors, 2 were squamous cell tumors, and 1 was adenocarcinoma. We followed 34 consecutive patients with the postpericardiotomy syndrome for a median of 7 years. This study was designed to investigate the frequency and diagnostic importance of the pleuropulmonary manifestations of the postcardiac injury syndrome. A retrospective study of 35 patients (2 to 76 years old) with clearly defined postcardiac injury syndrome is presented.
