OBJECTIVE: Distal somatic polyneuropathy is a major contributing factor in the pathogenesis of chronic foot infections and ulcers, and may lead to lower limb amputations. Both metabolic and vascular abnormalities may contribute to the development of impaired nerve function. OBJECTIVES: The clinical usefulness of assessing anorectal physiology has not been systematically examined. Our aims were to evaluate whether manometric tests of anorectal function influence the management and outcome of patients with defecation disorders, and to identify the patients who may most benefit from this assessment.

OBJECTIVES: Abdominal pain caused by diabetic thoracic polyradiculopathy is unfamiliar to many gastroenterologists. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics and outcome of the disorder.
METHODS: Ten patients (six women) with diabetic thoracic polyradiculopathy were cared for in 20 yr. Electromyographic evidence of nerve root denervation was found in seven patients. Nine patients were followed-up at least until recovery, including four until death.

The sensory recovery was monitored for up to 1 year after decompression of the median nerve in 69 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. A series of 128 acoustic neuromas (ANs) managed in our center in the last 6 years were evaluated. Sixteen cases (12.5%) were found to have normal pure tone audiograms.
