Management of maxillary permanent central incisors with combined injuries sustaining a second dental trauma: A case report with 8-year follow-up.

Root fractures often occur in immature maxillary permanent central incisors and can be combined with other injuries, making treating more difficult and prognosis uncertain. A 10-year-old girl sustaining a second dental trauma came to our hospital. Teeth 11 and 21 experienced root fracture following the first injury 15 months earlier. The second injury resulted in lateral luxation of the coronal fragment of Tooth 11 from the original fracture site and subluxation of Tooth 21. Tooth 11 was repositioned, and both Teeth 11 and 21 were splinted for 3 months. An apical plug was applied to Tooth 21 a

Validating a Novel 3D Printed Depth Gauge With Mandible Models.

Background/needTraditional bone depth gauges are notoriously inaccurate tools, often used in head and neck surgery, that estimate the screw length needed for fracture fixation after bicortical drilling. Complications related to inaccurately sized screws may include soft tissue irritation or weakness of the repair and subsequent refracture. To improve size selection accuracy, a prototype depth gauge was 3D printed and tested in mandibles.MethodsThe prototype was constructed with a rotating deployable hook and intra-operative disassembly feature to extract the device if it became stuck. Ten 3.2

Functional and three-dimensional radiographic outcomes after open reduction and internal fixation of condylar head fractures using magnesium alloy cannulated screws - a retrospective long-term follow-up.

OBJECTIVES: Condylar head fractures are common in facial trauma and can result in significantly impaired mandibular function. Open Reduction and internal fixation overall produce better functional outcomes than closed treatment. Multiple methods of fixation have been proposed, including the use of biodegradable magnesium-based cannulated bone screws. This study aims to investigate the long-term efficacy of this fixation method using three-dimensional radiographic imaging and clinical outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective cohort study of a single centre included patients who unde

[Nasal Fracture].

Nasal fractures are the most prevalent among facial fractures, constituting 40-50% of all such injuries. They can be isolated or accompany multi-system trauma, including damage to soft tissues or other fractures. When addressing a patient with a suspected nasal fracture, anamnesis is paramount. It is crucial to discern the mechanism and timing of the trauma. The latter is essential as the most recent data indicates a 14-day "treatment window" for closed reduction, a procedure that does not require general anesthesia. Contrary to past practices, imaging studies are now deemed unnecessary for di
