A 32-year-old woman was treated for breast carcinoma. Posttreatment FDG PET/CT scan revealed complete response, but in the contralateral breast, unexpected incidental intense FDG uptake was seen with a differential diagnosis of both malignant and benign causes. Medical history revealed recent breast contusion. The lesion was further evaluated by mammogram and ultrasound, which were compatible with deep breast bruise. Histopathology showed no malignancy. Although there are several reports of intracranial hemorrhage associated with vitamin K deficient bleeding, there are few reported cases of extracranial manifestations, specifically involving the thymus. Here, we discuss the unique case of a 4-week-old infant presenting with scrotal discoloration, respiratory distress, and widened mediastinum, found to have thymic hemorrhage related to confirmed coagulopathy secondary to late-onset vitamin K deficiency bleeding of the newborn.

Lightning strike is an environmental electrical injury with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Lightning strike injuries are also considered to be high-voltage injuries. Respiratory injuries associated with lightning strikes include pulmonary edema, pulmonary contusion, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and pulmonary hemorrhage. BACKGROUND: The risk of thromboembolic complications with prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs) appears low when used for reversal of vitamin K antagonists but might be different in other indications (e.g., trauma). OBJECTIVES: To study injury patterns and medical rescue operations related to tornadoes that occur in rural areas, this study investigated the data pertaining to the 2017 Chifeng tornado (China).
