[Experimental study on autologous osteochondral transplantation in the treatment of recurrent anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint with articular cartilage defect in rabbits].

OBJECTIVE: To explore clinical effect of autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) in the treatment of recurrent anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint with glenoid cartilage defect in rabbits by establishing a model of recurrent anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint with < 20% glenoid cartilage defect in rabbits. METHODS: Twenty-four male New Zealand white rabbits, aged 6-month-old, weighed (2.69±0.17) kg were selected. The labrum of shoulder joint of rabbits was artificially destroyed to establish a model of recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder joint with cartilage defec

[Countertraction method for reduction of irreducible subcoracoid dislocation of the shoulder joint with Hill-Sacks lesion].

OBJECTIVE: To investigate clinical outcomes of countertraction method in treating irreducible subcoracoid dislocation of shoulder joint combined with Hill-Sacks injury. METHODS: A total of 56 patients with irreducible subcoracoid dislocation of the shoulder joint combined with Hill-Sacks injury admitted from December 2013 to June 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Under the anesthesia of shoulder joint cavity injection, the reduction was performed by using anti-traction method (experimental group) and traditional Hippocrates method (control group), 28 cases in each group. There were 11 males

[Bilateral posterior shoulder dislocation with associated reverse Hill-Sachs lesions after electrical injury].

After workers suffer electric shock, the ankylosis and contraction of muscle groups around the shoulder joint are more likely to lead to posterior dislocation and fracture, of which 80% are complicated with reverse Hill-Sachs injury of humeral head. This paper reports a case of bilateral posterior dislocation of shoulder joint combined with Hill-Sachs injury caused by electric shock in the Department of Orthopedics, Affiliated Huzhou Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine in August 2020. The diagnosis of left posterior shoulder dislocation was clear, and the diagnosis of right poster

[Biomechanical comparative analysis of screw fixation and cortical endo-button fixation in Latarjet procedure for anterior dislocation of shoulder joint].

OBJECTIVE: To clarify the value of the cortical endo-button as an internal fixator in Latarjet procedure through biomechanical analysis. METHODS: Ten pairs of shoulder joints from 6-7 months old male pigs were selected. Each pair was randomly divided into screw group and endo-button group. A 25% glenoid defect model was created, and the porcine infraspinatus tendon and its associated bone were used to simulate conjoint tendon and coracoid process in human body. The bone grafts were fixed with two 3.5 mm screws and double cortical endo-buttons with high-strength sutures in screw group and endo

Arthroscopic Bankart repair following traumatic recurrent shoulder dislocation: A prospective review of 30 cases.

BACKGROUND: Literature on outcomes of arthroscopic Bankart repair at the intervening time intervals in traumatic recurrent dislocation of shoulder joint is limited. STUDY DESIGN: Case series. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: A prospective review of 30 shoulders, aged 20-40 years with clinically and magnetic resonance imaging established findings that were treated with primary arthroscopic Bankart repair and followed up for a minimum of 2 years. Outcomes were evaluated using Rowe score and University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) scoring system. RESULTS: The mean age was 26.40 years. All patients

Immobilization in external rotation vs internal rotation after shoulder dislocation: A systematic review and meta-analysis protocol.

BACKGROUND: Dislocation of shoulder joint is the most prone to occurrence in all joints of human body, which is common in young people and has a high recurrence rate. It is mainly treated by conservative treatment. External rotation and internal rotation fixation are 2 common conservative therapies in clinical practice. Therefore, we conduct this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 2 treatments. METHODS: Nine electronic databases, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and ClinicalT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the treatment skill and clinical effect of bone setting manipulation in treating proximal humeral fracture with shoulder dislocation. METHODS: From January 2015 to December 2015, 118 cases of proximal humeral fractures with shoulder joint dislocation were treated by bone setting reduction and fixation with adhesive tape or Kirschner wire after reduction, including 56 males and 62 females with an average age of 61 years old ranging from 48 to 88 years old. The time from injury to treatment was 1 to 31 days with an average of 3 days. All fractures were closed, according to

When is it safe to reduce fracture dislocation of shoulder under sedation? Proposed treatment algorithm.

INTRODUCTION: Shoulder dislocations are common. It is known that incongruent shoulder should be promptly reduced. However, when associated with fracture of the proximal humerus, there is a clinical dilemma if reduction under sedation is a safe option. We wanted to establish when it is safe to attempt reduction of a shoulder fracture dislocation under sedation in emergency room. METHODS: This is a retrospective cohort study assessing consecutive patients presenting with a dislocation of a gleno-humeral joint with an associated fracture of the humerus between 2007 and 2015. The radiographs and

Fracture Dislocation of Shoulder with Brachial Plexus Palsy: A Case Report and Review of Management Options.

INTRODUCTION: Injuries causing fracture dislocation of shoulder and brachial plexus palsy are extremely rare. As per authors' knowledge, three part fracture of proximal humerus with shoulder dislocation and brachial plexus palsy has not been reported in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION: A 53 year old female sustained a three part fracture of right proximal humerus along with dislocation of shoulder joint and brachial plexus palsy following a fall from a flight of stairs. Fracture was managed by plating of proximal humerus and brachial palsy was followed up with electrodiagnostic studies and

[Application of PHILOS plate through mini-open deltoid-splitting approach for the treatment of proximal humeral fractures].

OBJECTIVE: To study clinical effects of PHILOS (proximal humeral internal locking system) plates through mini-open deltoid-splitting approach for the treatment of proximal humeral fractures. METHODS: From March 2006 to August 2010, 22 patients with proximal humeral fractures were treated with PHILOS plates through mini-open deltoid-splitting approach. According to Neer classification, 6 cases were type II, 15 cases were type III and 1 case was type IV. Through the anterolateral approach to the shoulder, anterolateral vertical incision of 4 cm length was perforrmed from 1 cm under acromion, an

Bilateral Anterior Fracture-Dislocation of Shoulder Joint- A rare case with Delayed Presentation.

INTRODUCTION: The shoulder is the most frequently dislocated joint. Bilateral glenohumeral dislocations are rare and almost always posterior. Bilateral anterior fracture dislocations of humeral neck in a patient with seizure are extremely rare. We report one such case of delayed presentation of bilateral anterior fracture dislocation of shoulder after an epileptic attack. CASE REPORT: We describe a rare case of 30 year old gentleman who presented with first episode of seizure following alcohol withdrawal. Physical examination and radiographic assessment revealed fracture dislocation of bilate
