Lesions of the triangular fibrocartilage complex of the wrist (TFCC) have perfectly been dismembered by Andrew Palmer and have largely benefited from progress of arthroscopy of the wrist. One distinguishes thus traumatic lesions (class 1) individualized according to their localization, central (1-A), ulnar (1-B), radial (1-D) or distal (1-C). Central lesions are classically associated to a positive ulnar variance. The clinical symptomatology evokes a meniscal like syndrome of the wrist. Chronic post-traumatic dynamic distal radioulnar joint instability following rupture of the distal radioulnar ligaments may cause disabling and progressive ulnar-sided wrist symptoms. We use a free tendon graft to anatomically reconstruct both dorsal and palmar distal radioulnar ligaments simultaneously. Nine patients who underwent this procedure between 1990 and 1997 were assessed using a modified Mayo Wrist Score. Various patterns of traumatic carpal injury have been described in the literature. Although the combination of scaphoid fracture and scapholunate ligament rupture in the same injury has been reported and these lesions can no longer be considered mutually exclusive, little information is available on management methods and the long-term results of such seemingly paradoxical complex injuries. We report a case of a symptomatic lunotriquetral ligament rupture in a 10-year-old girl. Diagnosis was confirmed by arthrography and successful surgical treatment was performed with a ligamentoplasty of a radially based flap of the retinaculum extensorum. We reviewed the current literature.

The authors report on a study on the wrists from a medieval population (end of the 15th-century, beginning of the 18th century). The distal radio-ulnar arthrosis and the radio-carpal arthrosis were assessed after a macroscopic examination of the wrist bones. Statistical treatment of the data led to correlations with age, sex and bilateral nature of injuries. The distal radio-ulnar arthrosis has statistic correlation with age (P < 0.05). There is no relationship between sex and bilateral nature of injuries. For the radio-carpal arthrosis, injuries are often present for elderly woman (P < 0.01)

PURPOSE: To evaluate the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compared with arthrography and arthro-CT (AG/ACT) in patients with wrist pain.
METHODS: MRI and arthrography/arthro-CT (AG/ACT) of the wrist joint were retrospectively evaluated in 346 patients over a three-year period. Imaging findings were correlated to surgical results (n = 78) or clinical course in an at least 6-month follow-up.
