INTRODUCTION: Traumatic neglected dislocations of hip in children are rare entity. Neglected traumatic dislocations of hip in children along with heterotopic ossification are still rare. Post traumatic neglected hip dislocations are to be diagnosed as early as possible and have to be treated with precision and aggression as the outcome of treatment for the same is not predictable.

BACKGROUND: The work presents the results of total hip arthroplasty in the treatment of arthrosis secondary to for developmental dysplasia with high hip dislocation or corollary to previous surgery of dysplastic high riding hips. In all patients the cup was placed in its anatomical position. In order to avoid excessive lengthening of the operated limb and the associated complications, the femoral shaft was shortened by subtrochanteric Z osteotomy. Traumatic anterior open dislocation of hip is rare in children and prone to be associated with injuries, extensive soft tissue damage and avascular necrosis of the femoral head. We report a hitherto undescribed anterior open dislocation of the hip joint in a 14-year-old boy. The dislocated head finished up in the contralateral obturator foramen. The management of the case and its relation to published classifications of anterior hip dislocations in children are discussed.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of shoulder lift reduction for treatment of posterior dislocation of hip joint.
METHODS: From July 2001 to June 2010, 14 cases of posterior dislocation of hip joint were treated with shoulder lift reduction involving 12 males and 2 females with an average age of 34.6 years ranging from 18 to 57 years. After recduction, all patients were assisted with the traction, exercise and traditional Chinese medicine. The mean duration between injured and treatment was 1.1 days (2 hours to 3 days). According to Harris scoring system the hip joint function were evaluated.

Osteochondral defects of the femoral head are rare and principles of treatment include anatomic reduction, rigid fixation, enhancement of blood supply, and restoration of articular congruity. In this report, we present a case where the defect of the femoral head was treated with surgical dislocation of hip anteriorly and mosaicplasty. Traumatic posterior dislocation of hip associated with ipsilateral displaced femoral neck fracture is a rare injury. The aim of the study was the assessment of results after acetabular revision arthtoplasty with the use of reinforcement ring ReconShell (BBrown - Aesculap) and homogenous bone grafts. There were 49 patients in the study (42 women and 7 men) in the age from 30 to 88 years. The follow-up period ranged from 4 to 48 months. Before operation the mean Harris hip score was 31.14 and at last follow-up 71.64 points. Aseptic loosening of reconstruction ring was found in 3 patients. During next revision good integration of bone grafts, that were implanted into acetabulum at previous operation was found.
