A total of 65 suicidal cases due to sharp force injuries (cut and/or stab wounds) were investigated. Suicide by sharp force injuries accounted for 2.5% of all suicides in our prefecture during 1995-2005. The 65 victims were composed of 49 males and 16 females, and the age range of 50-70 years was most common. One hundred ninety eight adult patients who had sustained long bone fractures were treated by external fixation from admission to bone healing and consolidation. Of these, 135 had sustained high-energy injuries, 39 of them had suffered multi-system injuries. Cutaneous angiosarcoma is a rare but well-recognized complication after radiation therapy. Atypical post-radiation vascular lesions (AVLs) with a benign course have been described recently, but few cases with limited follow-up have been studied so far. We report the case of an isolated atherosclerotic aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery (SFA). The patient was a 76-year-old man who presented with intermittent claudication and muscle weakness in his right leg. Management of bone loss that occurs after severe trauma of open lower extremity fractures continues to challenge reconstructive surgeons. Retrograde arterialized venous flaps were applied to skin and soft-tissue defects in 13 patients with an average age of 34.4 years. Ten defects were located on the hand, and three on the lower leg.
