A retrospective study was carried out from 2008 to 2013 to estimate the prevalence of hydatidosis in ruminants slaughtered at the Kermanshah municipal abattoir, in western Iran. A total number of 663,633 livestock (393,585 sheep, 81,080 goats and 188,968 cattle) slaughtered in the 5-year period and overall 9,524 (1.43 %) livers and 13,147 (1.98 %) lungs were condemned. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on a national cohort of diabetic patients who received primary care within the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. Hospitalizations for lower-limb amputations were established by ICD-9-CM procedure codes. Relative risk of amputation in diabetic patients with and without diabetic nephropathy was determined using Cox proportional hazard modeling for unadjusted and adjusted models.

In the first web space region, there are communications between the dorsal arteries which arise from the dorsal branch of the radial artery and the digital arteries of the thumb and the index finger. These allow a distally based flap to be raised in the first dorsal intermetacarpal area. This flap has been used in 15 cases of soft-tissue loss from the thumb and index finger. The donor sites were closed primarily in all but two patients. There were no complications, and the results show that this flap is useful for soft-tissue defects on the tip and the palmar and dorsal surfaces of the thumb.

PURPOSE: To assess the utility of second toe-to-finger transplantation with neurovascular reconstruction in patients with loss of all four digits.
METHOD: Analysis of 24 toe-to-finger transplantations in 18 patients regarding over-all survival, complications and secondary procedures, sensibility, function, foot symptoms, and patient satisfaction. The original metacarpophalangeal joint was preserved in 50 % of the transplantations. In six patients, a second transplantation was performed.

In this retrospective study, 79 digits of 55 patients received 102 secondary procedures following replantation. We divided the procedures into two groups, occurring before or after 2 months following replantation.
