This study reports the results and complications of local thrombolysis therapy of recently occluded grafts manifested by acute ischemia in comparison with transluminal angioplasty of graft stenoses. Stenoses were diagnosed by means of ultrasound (asymptomatic patients) or manifested by claudications. The aim of our study is to emphasize the difference between efficacy of these two kinds of treatment and their difficulties. METHODS: This retrospective study analyzed the clinical records of 20 patients treated from 1984 to 1996 for a total of 23 lower limb injuries caused by power-driven cultivators (three patients had bilateral injuries) in the Nice University Hospital.

Traumatic amputation of the lip is a rare yet devastating event affecting both form and function. Considering the available methods for reconstruction, replantation may offer a reasonable solution. We sought to characterize the variables associated with lip replantation and to assess the outcome in a retrospective review of 13 lip replantations performed in 12 institutions utilizing a form database and clinical and photographic analysis. We performed a prospective study in 186 patients with a minimum follow-up of two years in order to attempt to predict successful major re-implantation of the upper limb. The results for 18 patients (20 feet) in whom a hallux valgus procedure had failed were reviewed. Ten patients (11 feet), with a mean age of 63 years, had correction with Keller resection arthroplasty and were observed for an average of 10 years (range, 3-15 years).
