Cross-Center Machine learning classification of gait in patients with ankle or subtalar Arthrodesis: A comparison of optical and IMU-Based systems.

Optical motion capture (OMC) is the clinical gold standard for instrumented gait analysis. Inertial measurement units (IMU) offer a faster and more scalable alternative. A key prerequisite for its clinical application is a comparable potential for pathology detection. This prospective, two-center study compared the classification performance of IMU based 2-Segment Foot Model kinematics data with OMC based Oxford Foot Model data. Included were healthy controls (IMU: n = 30; OMC: n = 20), patients after tibiotalar (IMU: n = 15; OMC: n = 19), and subtalar arthrodesis (IMU: n = 15; OMC: n = 21), a

Is a Resorbable Citrate-based Bioceramic Device Associated With Osseous Integration? An Early Retrospective MRI Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Bioresorbable fixation devices may be advantageous because they eliminate the question of whether they ought to be removed, have biomimetic qualities, and minimize artifacts seen on MRI. Most bioresorbable devices utilized during orthopaedic surgery consist of thermoplastic polymers derived from lactic and glycolic acids. These devices are linked to implant-related osteolysis, inflammation, and bone tunnel enlargement, and their integration with surrounding bone is inconsistent. Citregen®, a resorbable composite of a citrate-based thermoset polymer and hydroxyapatite, recently has

Risk Factors for Foot-Related Hospitalisations in Adults With and Without Diabetes: A Systematic Review.

INTRODUCTION: Foot-related conditions are a leading cause of all hospitalisations and amputations worldwide. Half of these foot-related hospitalisations are in people without diabetes. Yet, few studies seem to have explored risk factors for foot-related hospitalisations in populations with or without diabetes. This study aimed to systematically review studies investigating risk factors for hospitalisations caused by any foot-related conditions amongst any general community-dwelling adult populations (with or without diabetes). METHODS: PubMed and Embase databases were searched for studies rel

Functional outcomes of peroneus longus tendon autograft for posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is vital for regulating posterior tibial translation in relation to the femur, which is critical for knee stability. PCL tears are infrequently isolated in knee injuries; however, the absence of the PCL results in abnormal knee kinematics, which may cause injuries to other ligaments. The ideal tendon source for PCL reconstruction is still a subject of debate. AIM: To evaluate the results of employing the peroneus longus tendon (PLT) in PCL reconstruction. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted to identify relevant randomized controlled

The impact of midsole hardness on joint angles and plantar loading during running at multiple running velocities.

INTRODUCTION: Suitable midsoles of running shoes provide better protection for the feet. However, previous studies on the effect of midsole hardness on running biomechanics have ignored the important factor of running velocity and have not reached consistent results. This study set a running velocity with six gradients and aimed to investigate whether the midsole hardness would have a different impact on lower limb joint angles and plantar loading in different velocity ranges. METHODS: Eight male runners ran on a treadmill under 12 conditions (six velocities: self-selected velocity (SSV), 120
