The Effect of TISSEEL® on the Healing Process of Uterine Horn Reanastomosis in an Experimental Animal Model.

Background and Objectives: Tubal reanastomosis is an alternative option for women seeking fertility after sterilization. Thus, anastomosis healing quality and peri-tubal adhesions play a crucial role. TISSEEL® fibrin sealant may enhance tissue repair and reduce foreign-body reaction. We evaluated the effect of TISSEEL®, used alone or with sutures, on anastomotic healing and adhesion formation in a rat uterine horn model. Materials and Methods: Thirty female Wistar rats were randomized to Suture, TISSEEL®, or Suture + TISSEEL® groups (n = 10 each). After bilateral uterine horn transection, rean

A simple constitutive framework for thinning-thickening transitions in dense granular-fluid mixtures.

INTRODUCTION: Corneal foreign bodies are reported to be the second most common type of ocular injury. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is a valuable tool for the early diagnosis and monitoring the progress of treatment in cases of ocular trauma. Herein we aimed to report on a patient with an intra-corneal foreign body and the role of AS-OCT in management. CASE PRESENTATION: A 34-year-old male presented with foreign body sensation in his left eye. Slit-lamp biomicroscopic examination revealed a peripherally located intrastromally embedded foreign body with a free anterior

Transmural Ileal Fibroplasia Causing Mechanical Obstruction in a Dog: Surgical Management, Histopathology, and Molecular Findings.

Small bowel obstruction (SBO) in dogs is most commonly caused by foreign bodies or neoplasia; however, SBO secondary to transmural fibroplasia remains a rare clinical complication of canine chronic enteropathy. This report describes the complex case of mechanical SBO caused by transmural ileal fibroplasia and inflammation at the ileocolic junction in a 9-year-old mixed-breed dog with concomitant hyperadrenocorticism (HAC). The primary presentation involved chronic severe weight loss and intermittent anorexia, contrasting with the acute presentation typical of most SBO cases. Imaging studies re

Abdominal fat graft migration into bulbar subconjunctival space after midface fat transfer: a case report.

A 69-year-old woman presented with a localized bulbar conjunctival lesion with associated inflammation. The lesion and inflammation were refractory to topical corticosteroid therapy. Her history was significant for cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty with abdominal fat transfer to the midface. Surgical excision and histopathologic analysis revealed a foreign body-type granulomatous inflammatory reaction to lipid material, consistent with migrated corporal fat. This case outlines a rare complication of fat transfer to the periocular region.

Urinary bowel stone: calculus formation in a repurposed small intestine - a case report.

BACKGROUND: Urinary diversion with an ileal conduit is associated with an increased risk of urinary tract calculi, driven by metabolic disturbances, recurrent infections, urinary stasis, and foreign bodies. Although stone formation is a known complication, calculi developing around migrated surgical material remain infrequently reported. CASE PRESENTATION: An 81-year-old male patient with a history of radical cystectomy and ileal conduit formation for invasive urothelial carcinoma presented with flank pain and urinary tract infection four years after surgery. Morphological analysis of two spo

Small bowel perforation by ingested fish bone in a post-gastric bypass patient: a case report.

Gastric bypass effectively treats morbid obesity but may cause complications like anastomotic strictures and marginal ulceration. Bowel perforation from foreign body ingestion is rare. A 49-year-old woman with previous gastric bypass presented with acute abdominal pain. A fish bone perforated her small intestine, causing an acute abdomen. Emergency laparotomy was performed, successfully repairing all perforations. Patients with gastric bypass may have anatomical changes increasing their risk of foreign body-induced perforation. Clinicians should consider this possibility when assessing sudden

Delayed Corneal Endothelial Cell Loss Following CyPass Stent Insertion: A Case Report.

We report a case of delayed corneal endothelial cell loss (CECL) following CyPass® stenting in a 71-year-old female with normal-tension glaucoma. CECL is a known complication of the CyPass® stent, which resulted in its withdrawal from the market in 2018; however, the mechanism for CECL is often attributed to mechanical endothelial disruption from poorly positioned stents. In this case, our patient suffered around a 40% CECL, which first started five years following stent implantation and responded well to ripasudil therapy. This occurred despite it being optimally positioned, prompting an alte

A case report of an abdominal wall fibrolipomatous capsule secondary to the migration of an intrauterine device (IUD).

INTRODUCTION: Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are the most widely used reversible contraceptive method worldwide. Uterine perforation and extrauterine migration are two complications associated with their use. We report one such case in this article. CASE PRESENTATION: A 28-year-old female patient was admitted with a periumbilical abdominal swelling on the left side, causing minimal pain, likely parietal, that had been developing for about 1 year. Ultrasound revealed a fibrous capsule organized around an unidentified foreign body within the anterior abdominal wall. The fibrous capsule was removed

Intravesical migration of an intrauterine contraceptive device complicated by giant bladder calculus formation: a case report.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: An intrauterine device (IUD) perforating the uterus and migrating into the bladder to become a nidus for stone formation is an uncommon scenario with a considerable management challenge. CASE PRESENTATION: A 28-year-old woman presented with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) along with pelvic pain of 3 years' duration after 7 years of IUD insertion. A computed tomography scan and cystoscopy confirmed the presence of an IUD with a large stone formation inside the bladder. The stone was successfully fragmented using a pneumatic lithotripter, and the IUD, along with

Vaginal Angiolipoleiomyoma: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Angiolipoleiomyoma (ALLM) is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor consisting of mature adipose tissue, smooth muscle, and thick-walled blood vessels. Its occurrence in the female genital tract is uncommon, and vaginal involvement is exceptionally rare, making preoperative diagnosis particularly challenging due to its non-specific clinical and imaging features. In this report, we present the case of a 45-year-old woman with a two-year history of progressive vaginal foreign body sensation accompanied by chronic constipation. Pelvic magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large mass measuring 13 × 9 × 8

Twenty-nine years of silence: a rare case report of long-term retained nasal coin presenting as rhinolithiasis in adulthood.

BACKGROUND: Nasal foreign bodies (FBs) are frequently encountered in pediatric patients; however, it is uncommon for FBs to remain undetected into adulthood. Long-retained FBs-especially metallic-can trigger chronic inflammation and granulation tissue formation which may subsequently lead to rhinolithiasis. Diagnosis is often delayed by embarrassment, vague symptoms, or misdiagnosis as chronic rhinosinusitis. In some cases, the foreign body may remain asymptomatic for many years, further complicating the diagnosis. CASE DESCRIPTION: We describe an uncommon case of a 35-year-old man who presen

Isolated Premature Menarche in a 17-Month-Old: A Case Report.

BACKGROUND Vaginal bleeding in prepubertal girls is an uncommon finding and should always prompt thorough evaluation. Puberty is a complex physiological process resulting from maturation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Precocious puberty is defined as the early onset of secondary sexual characteristics before the age of 8 years in girls. The incidence ranges from 1 in 5000 to 1 in 10 000 girls worldwide. In contrast, isolated premature menarche is a rare and benign condition characterized by vaginal bleeding without other signs of pubertal activation and remains a diagnosis of excl
