[Peripheral ulcerative keratitis associated with dupilumab: a case report].

A 68-year-old male developed foreign body sensation in both eyes, photophobia and tearing in the right eye approximately 6 weeks after initiating dupilumab for severe atopic dermatitis. The right eye presented a crescent-shaped superficial-stromal ulcer in the peripheral cornea with an undermined edge, which was separated from the limbus of the cornea by a clear zone. The left eye had a pannus at the limbus of the cornea. Corneal scraping, bacterial culture, and fungal culture excluded infections. The patient was administered 0.1% fluorometholone eye drops and recombinant bovine basic fibrobla

Phaeoisaria sp. fungal keratitis resembling corneal rust residue: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Fungal keratitis can develop after plant injury or after prolonged glucocorticoid use. Typical manifestations include corneal infiltrates, satellite lesions, plaques, and an immune ring. Some cases exhibit atypical signs, requiring reliance on etiological examination. Notably, fungi previously deemed nonpathogenic to humans can cause keratitis with rare clinical manifestations. This report details the clinical signs and successful treatment outcomes of keratitis caused by Phaeoisaria sp. CASE PRESENTATION: A 51-year-old man visited the ophthalmology clinic with ongoing eye pain an

Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis: Impact on Children.

Vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) is a seasonally recurring form of allergic conjunctivitis that leads to bilateral inflammation of the cornea and conjunctiva. Symptoms may include itching, foreign body sensation, discharge, and conjunctival hyperemia. Severe cases may result in corneal complications including erosions, shield ulcers, plaques, microbial keratitis, corneal scarring, limbal stem cell deficiency, and keratoconus. Epidemiological data reveal that it mainly affects children and young adults, with male predominance and a higher prevalence in warmer climates. The etiology is multifac

Challenges in the management of microsporidial keratoconjunctivitis: recurrent infection and environmental contamination.

A young male, a known steroid responder with vernal keratoconjunctivitis, presented with diminished vision, redness and foreign body sensation in his left eye for 20 days. He was on anti-glaucoma medications and tacrolimus 0.03% eye ointment. On examination, greyish-white coarse lesions were observed on his left cornea, along with a few medium to large keratic precipitates (KPs). The corneal scraping demonstrated microsporidial spores, and 2 hourly lubricating eyedrops were initiated. Three days later, the patient remained symptomatic; therefore, a 4 hourly dose of loteprednol 0.5% was initiat

Evaluation of factors relating to the development of multiple subepithelial corneal infiltrates of adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis using categorical data analysis program.

PURPOSE: Adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis is the most common infectious disease in ophthalmology. Its clinical forms include epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC) and pharyngoconjunctival fever (PCF). EKC can be complicated by multiple subepithelial infiltrates (MSI) of the cornea, which affect visual outcomes. As at present, artificial intelligence and machine learning are becoming increasingly important not only in the diagnostic imaging field but also in the clinical data science field, we investigated a predictive model for the development of corneal MSI in adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis. A Single Staged Reconstruction of Upper Eyelid and Eyelashes.

The upper eyelid is a complex structural part of the face that plays an important role in protecting the cornea from drying and damage to preserve vision. The eyelashes are an essential part of the upper eyelid and help in protecting the eyes from dust, foreign bodies, and sweat. Being a part of the face, which is the most noticeable part of the body, both structures hold an important role in reconstructive procedures. Reconstruction of both structures simultaneously is tricky but helps reduce the number of procedures required in achieving an aesthetically acceptable eye. Our techniques descri
