Dairy manure application to soils can result in phosphorus (P)-related degradation of water quality. The P in these manure-impacted soils can be labile even years after abandonment and under conditions normally associated with high P stability. The mass spectral behavior of a number of organometallic complexes containing the Group 10 metals Ni, Pd, and Pt, together with various thiolate ligands were studied. In the rhizosphere, phosphorus (P) levels are low because of P uptake into the roots. Rhizobacteria live on carbon (C) exuded from roots, and may contribute to plant nutrition by liberating P from organic compounds such as phytates. We isolated over 300 phytate (Na-inositol hexa-phosphate; Na-IHP)-utilizing bacterial strains from the rhizosheath and the rhizoplane of Lupinus albus (L.). A new series of 5-[(3'-chloro-4',4'-disubstituted-2-oxoazetidinyl)(N-nitro)amino]-6-hydroxy-3-alkyl/aryl[1,3]azaphospholo[1,5-a]pyridin-1-yl-phosphorus dichlorides has been synthesized and subjected to acute antibacterial and antifungal screening studies. All the derivatives belonging to this series delineated remarkable activity as compared to standard drugs (ampicillin and clotrimazole). Compounds are quantitatively analyzed in relation to their different physicochemical parameters. Significant correlations were obtained between biological activity and polarizability parameter (MR).

A technique was developed to measure the total gaseous phosphorus content in biogas. The amount of air needed for a neutral to oxidising flame was mixed with the biogas. The gas mixture was burnt in a closed quartz burner and the combustion gasses were bubbled through a nitric acid solution.
