The effect of pre-irradiation annealing in an oven at 240 degrees C/10 min (oven anneal) and in a TLD reader at 6 degrees C s(-1), 10 s dwell time at a maximum temperature 240 degrees C (reader anneal), on the glow curve structure of a home made sample of LiF:Mg,Cu,P powder has been investigated. It is shown that on oven annealing the glow peak areas of peaks 2 and 3 increase and that of peak 4 decreases, while on reader annealing the area of peak 4 increases and those of peaks 2 and 3 effectively decrease. Most patients with end-stage renal disease develop hyperphosphatemia because their dietary intake exceeds phosphorus elimination by intermittent thrice-weekly dialysis. SUMMARY: The prediction of significant short functional protein sequences has inherent problems. In predicting phosphorylation sites, problems came from the shortness of phosphorylation sites, the difficulties in maintaining many different predefined models of binding sites, and the difficulties of obtaining highly sensitive predictions and of obtaining predictions with a constant sensitivity and specificity. Multiple-metal spin transitions which distort the HMQC spectra of rhodium carbonyl clusters are discussed. These effects are seen whenever the detector nucleus, e.g. 13C or 31P, couples to more than one metal spin and are not restricted to detector ligands occupying edge- or face-bridging sites. EPR spectra show that one-electron reduction of bis(3-phenyl-6,6-(trimethylsilyl)phosphinine-2-yl)dimethylsilane (1) on an alkali mirror leads to a radical anion that is localized on a single phosphinine ring, whereas the radical anion formed from the same reaction in the presence of cryptand or from an electron transfer with sodium naphthalenide is delocalized on the two phosphinine rings. The advanced phosphorus (P) removal by adsorption was studied for its suitability as a post-treatment step for membrane bioreactor (MBR) effluents low in P concentration and particle content. Two commercial adsorbents, granulated ferric hydroxide (GFH) and activated aluminium oxide (AA), were studied in batch tests and lab-scale filter tests for P adsorption in MBR filtrates. The syntheses, structures, and N2 adsorption properties of six new supramolecular metallacycles are reported. Flexible ditopic linkers, 1-4, with systematically varied lengths and conformational degrees of freedom were synthesized utilizing ester linkages. Three selenium-ligated Pd(II) complexes were readily synthesized and shown to be extremely active catalysts for the Heck reaction of various aryl bromides, including deactivated and heterocyclic ones. The catalytic activity of the selenide-based Pd(II) complexes not only rivals but vastly outperforms that of the corresponding phosphorus and sulfur analogues. Practical advantages of the selenium-based catalysts include their straightforward synthesis and high activity in the absence of any additives as well as the enhanced stability of the selenide ligands toward air oxidation.

To elucidate the pathophysiological significance of adenosine 3'-monophosphate (3'-AMP) forming enzyme in rats, the effect of iron lactate overloading on the enzyme activities and adenine nucleotide levels in the liver and spleen was examined.
