Effect of Pain Science Education and Behavioral Graded Activity on Pain in Survivors of Breast Cancer: A Study Protocol for a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.

IMPORTANCE: Pain affects up to half of survivors of breast cancer and is one of the most common long-term consequences of cancer treatment, yet it remains under-recognized and undertreated. Pharmacological options often provide limited relief and may cause adverse effects. Evidence from other pain populations supports a biopsychosocial approach combining pain education and physical activity. OBJECTIVE: The objective is to evaluate whether pain science education (PSE) with behavioral graded activity (BGA) versus usual care (UC), reduces pain intensity and interference in survivors of breast ca

The Role of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring in the Treatment of Childhood Leukemia.

Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is critical for optimizing chemotherapy in pediatric leukemia, where high interpatient variability and narrow therapeutic windows increase the risk of toxicity. This review examines TDM for key cytotoxic agents as well as tyrosine kinase inhibitors. TDM enables individualized dosing, guides supportive care decisions, facilitates adherence monitoring, and minimizes treatment-related adverse effects. Advances in TDM may enable clinicians to incorporate real-time monitoring, predictive modeling, and standardized guidelines into clinical decision making to achieve

Feasibility of exercise training to address corticosteroid-induced changes in adolescents aged 10+ with lymphoma or leukemia during the first eight weeks of treatment: a pilot study.

INTRODUCTION: Children and adolescents with hematological malignancies are at risk of adverse side effects from high-dose corticosteroid treatment during induction therapy. In this context, exercise and nutrition interventions are promising, physiologically grounded approaches but their feasibility and practical delivery during early intensive therapy remain unclear. Therefore, this prospective pilot randomized controlled trial was designed to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary effects of an exercise intervention and nutrition consultation in newly diagnosed patients. METHODS: Participa

Real-world implementation of robot-assisted radical cystectomy at four Japanese institutions: perioperative outcomes, major complications, and mortality.

To describe the implementation of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) at four Japanese institutions, focusing on perioperative outcomes, major complications (Clavien-Dindo grade ≥3), and all-cause mortality within 90 days. We retrospectively analyzed 519 consecutive RARCs for bladder cancer (October 2014-March 2026). Each institution's series was divided chronologically into early (n = 261) and late (n = 258) halves to describe changes in practice (exploratory). Factors associated with major complications were assessed by logistic regression including institution. Survival among 90-day su

A Programmable KillSwitch in NewTAML Catalysts Decouples Oxidative Reactivity from Catalyst Lifetime.

Bis-amido-bis-sulfonamido, [Fe{4-NO2C6H3-1,2-(NCOCMe2NSO2)2CR1R2}(OH2)]- [2; R1/R2 = H/H (2a), H/CH3 (2b), CH3/CH3 (2c)], are NewTAML (NT) iron(III) oxidation catalysts. Herein we identify and mechanistically characterize a ligand-centered, catalyst-lifetime-controlling site (CR1R2), termed a KillSwitch (KS), that enables balancing technical performance with potential safety constraints in NT/Oxidant process design. Under catalytic conditions, CR1R2 sites containing two or one hydrogen(s), (2a, 2b, respectively), undergo deprotonation to form electron-rich ylides that accelerate NT oxidative d

Inheritance and biochemical mechanism of abamectin resistance in a near-isogenic strain of Panonychus citri (Acari: Tetranychidae).

The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri, has developed severe resistance to the widely used pesticide like abamectin. Understanding the inheritance, cross-resistance profile, and biochemical mechanism of pesticide resistance in P. citri is critical for developing effective resistance management strategies. Here, we established an abamectin-resistant near-isogenic strain (NIL-Aba) by backcrossing the susceptible strain (SS strain) with a field collected abamectin-resistant strain (NN-Aba strain) for eight generations, coupled with continuous abamectin selection. The NIL-Aba strain exhibited 2278.

Serial Analyses with Mass Spectrometry Imaging Reveal Chemical and Metabolic Alterations in Liver Tissue Following Thermoembolization.

Thermoembolization (TE) is a new, minimally invasive approach that could improve outcomes in select patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. However, little is known about the effects of this procedure at the molecular level. To gain greater insight into the molecular effects of TE, we performed a pilot study of transarterial TE with 2-propylpentanoyl chloride in a swine model with 3 animals. Liver tissues were harvested 7 days after the procedure, and formalin-fixed specimens were subjected to serial mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) analyses of metabolites, glycans, and tryptic peptides. Discovery of Tetrasubstituted Quinazolin-4(3H)-ones as Wild-type-sparing, Highly Selective PI3KαH1047R Inhibitors.

Inhibiting PI3Kα has demonstrated promising therapeutic effects for patients with HR+/HER2- and PIK3CA-mutated advanced or metastatic breast cancer. However, hyperglycemia and other notable adverse events (AE) associated with concomitant wild-type inhibition remain a challenge and limit dosing. Selectively targeting the mutant PI3KαH1047R could reduce wild-type-driven AEs while retaining clinical efficacy. Herein, we report the design and identification of tetrasubstituted quinazolin-4(3H)-ones that can selectively inhibit PI3KαH1047R through a proposed slow-on and slow-off mechanism. Compound

Extracorporeal photopheresis for the treatment of steroid-refractory immune related adverse events from immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy: a multi-center phase Ib/II clinical trial.

Severe immune-related adverse events (irAE) in cancer patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) require treatment interruption and immunosuppression. Based on prior preclinical data, in this prospective, single arm, non-randomized phase-Ib/II clinical trial we test the activity of Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP) against steroid-refractory irAEs in 30 patients (EudraCT-No.:2021-002073-26). The primary endpoint is the evaluation of the safety of ECP treatment for patients with ICI-induced irAEs. The study meets its pre-specified primary endpoint of less than 50% of patients develo

Long-term follow-up of limbic leucotomy for self-injurious behavior: Report of 2 cases.

Introduction Severe self-injurious behavior (SIB) is a potentially life-threatening condition that is often treatment refractory, particularly in patients with severe psychiatric illness. Limbic leucotomy, which combines anterior cingulotomy and subcaudate tractotomy, has shown benefit in select patients with severe, treatment-refractory SIB as an intervention of last resort. However, long-term outcome data beyond a few years is essentially absent from present literature. We report the longest follow-up to date in two patients after limbic leucotomy for severe refractory SIB. Case Presentation

A phase II study combining radiotherapy and atezolizumab/nab-paclitaxel for inoperable or recurrent programmed death-ligand 1-positive triple-negative breast cancer: IMRad-Br study protocol and safety run-in.

BACKGROUND: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype lacking estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 expressions, with poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) combined with chemotherapy in patients with programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-positive advanced TNBC. Radiotherapy (RT) may enhance therapeutic effects when combined with ICIs. METHODS: In this ongoing single-arm, multicenter phase II trial (IMRad-Br; jRCTs021210010), we aimed to evaluat

Neoadjuvant Surgical Enablement in Renal Cell Carcinoma: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Neoadjuvant systemic therapy is increasingly considered for selected patients with localized or locally advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) when the intended value is not merely tumor shrinkage but surgical enablement, including partial nephrectomy achievement, venous tumor thrombus downstaging, or simplification of the planned operation. We synthesized the evidence on neoadjuvant or preoperative systemic therapy as a surgical-enabling strategy in RCC. PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science Core Collection, the Cochrane Library, and Embase were searched from inception to 1 May 2026. Eligible reports i

Proposal for preventing fatal nitrogen gas inhalation while working: an autopsy case and review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, and generally inert gas that acts as a simple asphyxiant by displacing oxygen. While accidental nitrogen gas inhalation typically occurs in confined spaces, fatalities resulting from mask misconnections during industrial work are extremely rare. Inhaling excess nitrogen can rapidly cause disorientation, rendering victims unable to escape critical situations. Therefore, developing preventive measures is an urgent priority. CASE PRESENTATION: A Japanese factory worker in his 40s was found in cardiopulmonary arrest inside a pot he was cleaning alone
