Atomic-Scale Insights into Ultrasonic Vibration-Assisted Polishing Mechanisms of 4H-SiC in H2O2 Solutions.

This study employed reactive force field molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the mechanisms underlying the ultrasonic vibration-assisted polishing of 4H-SiC in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solutions. A model was developed to simulate scratching with a single diamond abrasive particle in an aqueous H2O2 environment to systematically examine the effects of vibration amplitude and frequency on friction forces, surface chemical reactions, material removal, surface morphology, and crystal structure. The results revealed that ultrasonic vibrations significantly influenced the fluctuation chara

Balance and Postural Outcomes of Vibration Therapies in Parkinson's Disease: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Balance impairment is a major motor symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD), leading to falls, reduced mobility, and lower quality of life. Despite advances in pharmacological and rehabilitation approaches, postural instability often persists, requiring effective adjunctive interventions. Vibration therapy (VT) is a non-invasive, drug-free method that may enhance neuromuscular and balance control. However, evidence remains inconsistent due to methodological heterogeneity and small samples. This protocol describes a systematic review and meta-analysis designed to evaluate the effects of VT on balan

Void Suppression Method of CFRP Variable-Thickness Structure Components by Vibration-Assisted Curing Process.

Composite components with variable-thickness structures often suffer from insufficient forming pressure during curing due to complex pressure transfer in regions with abrupt thickness changes, which easily causes void defects and degrades component performance. In this study, a mechanical vibration-assisted double vacuum bag process is proposed. Finite element analysis of the vibration energy field in saturated porous composites is conducted, and curing experiments for variable-thickness specimens are designed. The effects of vibration, vacuum, and their synergy on void characteristics and mec

Aircraft-level vibration effects on hyperfine laser locks for Rydberg electric-field sensing.

We present a subsystem-isolated study of aircraft-level vibration coupling to a hyperfine laser lock and its propagation to a two-photon Rydberg superheterodyne RF sensor. Here, the probe laser is stabilized to an atomic hyperfine transition, and RF electric fields are detected via a Rydberg-atom superheterodyne process that down-converts the signal to an optical readout. A compact Doppler-free saturated-absorption spectroscopy (SAS) module probing the 87Rb5S1/2→5P3/2 hyperfine manifold was driven to NASA DC-8 in-flight vibration levels (<2kHz) to investigate the effects of vibration on the st

Impact of Vibration on Skin Blood Flow: A Scoping Review.

Vibration forces have been reported to alter skin blood flow (SBF) and have been proposed as a noninvasive therapy for modulating exercise performance, wound healing, and thermoregulation. Although numerous studies have explored the effects of vibration on SBF, the direct effects of vibration therapy (VT) on SBF remain inconsistently characterized. This scoping review maps the existing evidence on the effects of localized and whole-body vibration (WBV) on SBF across clinical, laboratory, occupational, and therapeutic settings. The review was conducted using the Arksey and O'Malley Framework, w

Vibration frequency drives oxidative membrane damage and metabolic remodeling underlying muscle quality deterioration in yellow catfish (Pelteobagrus fulvidraco) under waterless transport.

Mechanical vibration is unavoidable during waterless live-fish transport, yet the chemical mechanisms driving muscle quality deterioration remain unclear. This study examined the effects of vibration frequency on muscle quality in yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco during simulated waterless transport by integrating physicochemical traits, histology, low-field nuclear magnetic resonance, serum redox indices, and untargeted metabolomics. Higher vibration frequencies exacerbated water loss and texture deterioration, accompanied by progressive microstructural disruption and enhanced water mob

Immediate effects of vibration vs. non-vibration foam rolling on biomechanical and viscoelastic properties of knee flexor and extensor muscles in young male recreational athletes: a randomized, controlled, cross-over study.

This study examined the immediate effects of vibration (VFR) and non-vibration foam rolling (FR) on the biomechanical and viscoelastic properties of the knee flexor and extensor muscles. Thirteen young male recreational athletes (mean age: 21.46±1.45 years) completed three conditions: VFR, FR, and control conditions. Assessments were performed pre- and post-test using the MyotonPro. Regarding the knee flexors, no significant effects were observed for muscle tone, stiffness, elasticity, or relaxation time (p>0.05). Creep increased similarly in both VFR and FR groups (p=0.038). Regarding knee ex

Effects of vibration stimulation on truncal lateropulsion in patients with lateral medullary syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Prognosis of body lateropulsion observed in lateral medullary syndrome is generally favourable; however, lateropulsion persists in some patients and delays social rehabilitation. One proposed pathophysiological mechanism of lateropulsion is impaired afferent input to the cerebellum due to disruption of the posterior spinocerebellar tract. This study examined whether activation of the posterior spinocerebellar tract system through vibration stimulation improves lateropulsion. METHODS: First, following a representative case presentation, seven additional consecutive patients with la

Piezo1 promotes vibration-induced vascular smooth muscle injury by regulating the NF-κB/p65 axis.

Vibration induced damage to the peripheral circulatory system is thought to be an early stage of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) caused by occupational exposure to hand-transmitted vibration (HTV). This study investigated the mechanisms underlying vibration-induced vascular injury, focusing on the role of Piezo1, a mechanosensitive channel, and its association with the NF-κB/p65 signaling pathway. We demonstrated that vibration exposure leads to Piezo1-mediated upregulation of angiogenic chemokines, including CCL2, CCL5, CXCL1, CXCL2, and CXCL10, through the NF-κB/p65 pathway. To mimic the

Study on the Effects of Vibration Force Field on the Mixing and Structural Properties of PLA/PBS/EGMA Blends.

This study investigates the effects of a vibration force field on the mixing and structural properties of polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), and ethylene-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer (EGMA) blends. A balanced triple-screw dynamic extrusion process was utilized to prepare PLA/PBS/EGMA composites under various vibration parameters, specifically amplitude and frequency. The results indicate that the introduction of a vibration force field significantly enhances the dispersion of the PLA/PBS/EGMA blend, leading to improved mechanical properties, thermal stability, and crystal

Droplet Migration Characteristics on Liquid-Infused Surfaces by Mechanical Vibration.

In industrial applications such as condensation heat transfer, frost suppression, and fog collection, the droplet in the Wenzel state exhibits a strong adhesion to the surface, hindering its migration. To prevent the wetting transition and improve droplet migration, a novel method by combining wettability gradients, liquid infusion, and mechanical vibration is proposed in this paper. A curved microgrooved surface with gradient wettability is fabricated via photolithography on a silicon wafer, and then, silicone oil is infused to form the liquid-infused surface. Subsequently, a vertical vibrati

Dynamic Behavior of Droplets Impacting on Superhydrophobic Substrates under Vibrational Fields.

The phenomenon of droplets impacting solid surfaces under a vibrating field is commonly observed in various production and application processes across industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, and energy. This study examines the dynamic behavior of a free-falling droplet impacting a vibrating superhydrophobic substrate using high-speed photography. The effects of the initial phase angle (φ), Weber number (We), and vibration frequency (f) on the droplet's morphological evolution and energy dissipation during the impact process are analyzed. Based on the experiments, the maximum spreading

Goldfish regenerated scale culture at low temperatures improves osteoblast and osteoclast survival in scales without loss of the osteoblast and osteoclast response to changes in gravity.

Biological samples that can be stored for long periods are desirable for experiments in space because of the potential for postponement of space vehicle launches. In this study, we determined whether culturing goldfish scales at lower temperatures increased survival of osteoblasts and osteoclasts in the scales without affecting their biological activities. After one-week storage of regenerated goldfish scales at 4 °C, both alkaline phosphatase (ALP)-positive osteoblasts and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive multinucleated osteoclasts (active type of osteoclasts) were detectab

Magic cancellation point for vibration resilient ultrastable microwave signal synthesis.

Photonically-synthesized microwave signals have surpassed the phase-noise performance achievable by traditional means of RF signal generation. However, for microwave-photonic oscillators to truly replace their RF counterparts, this phase-noise advantage must also be realizable when operating outside of a laboratory. Oscillators are known to be notoriously vibration sensitive, with both traditional RF and optical oscillators degrading sharply in all but the most stationary of environments. We demonstrate here a powerful technique that makes use of a precise frequency difference between two opti

Optimising the Accuracy of Concentric Tube Robots: Using Vibration Friction Reduction.

BACKGROUND: The concentric tube robots (CTRs) show great potential for minimally invasive surgery due to their size and flexibility. However, friction remains a key factor contributing to accuracy errors in CTR applications, and reducing friction effects to enhance CTRs' precision remains a critical challenge. METHODS: This paper pioneers the application of a vibration friction reduction (VFR) method for CTRs, aiming to reduce inter-tube friction and improve system accuracy. First, a CTR system with VFR was designed, incorporating a vibration generator consisting of four vibration motors and
