Safety of supervised hospital vaccination in children at risk of hypersensitivity: A 9-year study.

INTRODUCTION: Fear of allergic reactions is a frequent cause of vaccine hesitancy among families of children with allergic diseases. Vaccination in a supervised hospital setting is often recommended for children considered at increased risk of hypersensitivity. However, real-world data on the safety and impact of this approach in pediatric populations remain limited. METHODS: We performed a retrospective, single-center study including children referred for vaccination under allergist supervision between July 2016 and May 2025. Vaccines were administered at full dose in a hospital setting, wit

Egg Allergy Prevalence Before and After Guidelines for Earlier Egg Introduction.

IMPORTANCE: Egg allergy is among the most common food allergies in infants. Allergy prevention guidelines have been updated globally based on evidence that earlier egg introduction reduces the risk of egg allergy, and these guidelines have been adopted widely. However, the association of this guideline change with the prevalence of egg allergy is unclear. OBJECTIVE: To estimate the change in population prevalence of egg allergy after a guideline update recommending earlier introduction of egg into the infant diet. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This cross-sectional study included infants

Baseline Immune Signatures in Serum Extracellular Vesicles Distinguish Food-Induced from Wheat-Dependent Exercise-Induced Anaphylaxis.

Food-induced anaphylaxis (FIA) is a life-threatening allergic reaction, while wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) is triggered by wheat ingestion plus cofactors. To elucidate their differences, we profiled serum extracellular vesicle (EV) proteomes from 240 participants, including WDEIA, FIA, oral allergy syndrome (OAS), and healthy controls. All blood samples were obtained at least one month after the most recent acute allergic reaction, using TMT-based LC-MS/MS with ELISA validation. A total of 583 EV proteins were confidently identified, revealing distinct immune features.

Comprehensive analysis of cefuroxime-associated adverse events: Insights from JADER database (2004-2024) and comparison with FAERS database.

Cefuroxime, as a second-generation cephalosporin, is widely used in clinical practice. In recent years, research using the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database has led to new discoveries about the adverse event profile of cefuroxime. However, there is currently a lack of systematic research on the safety of cefuroxime based on the Japan Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database. This study analyzed the clinical characteristics and adverse event signals associated with cefuroxime using the JADER database and further compared the findings with those from

Kiwifruit Allergy: Epidemiology, Allergenic Mechanisms, and Processing Strategies for Allergenicity Reduction.

Kiwifruit presents a growing global health concern, characterized by IgE-mediated type I hypersensitivity reactions ranging from mild oral symptoms to severe anaphylaxis. This allergy is driven by five major allergenic proteins (Act d 1, 2, 5, 8, and 12), which exhibit significant cross-reactivity, contributing to conditions such as latex-fruit syndrome and pollen-food allergy syndrome. The structural heterogeneity and epitope variations among kiwifruit allergens directly influence the diversity and severity of clinical reactions. Accurate epitope mapping may improve diagnostic accuracy, clari

Early Oral Immunotherapy with Pasteurized Egg White in Children Younger than Two Years with IgE-Mediated Egg Allergy: A Prospective Study with Historical Controls.

BACKGROUND: Egg allergy is one of the most common food allergies in early childhood and is traditionally managed through strict avoidance diets, which may negatively affect nutrition and quality of life. Early oral immunotherapy (OIT) may represent an alternative therapeutic strategy; however, controlled studies in children younger than two years remain limited. METHODS: We conducted a prospective observational study using historical controls. Thirty-one children younger than two years with IgE-mediated egg allergy underwent OIT using pasteurized liquid egg white (maximum dose: 30 mL; 3300 mg

Case Report: Allergic reaction following fecal microbiota transplantation in children with autism spectrum disorder: a report of two cases.

BACKGROUND: Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is increasingly used in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is generally considered to have an acceptable safety profile. However, the risk and mechanisms of severe adverse events in the high-risk subgroup of children with ASD complicated by multiple food intolerances (FI) have not been reported, and clinical strategies for risk prevention and management remain lacking. CASE REPORT: This article reports two cases of children with ASD and multiple FIs who developed anaphylactic shock following FMT, representing the first such repo

Omalizumab for severe IgE-mediated food allergy and severe asthma after pediatric liver transplantation: a case report.

Transplant-associated allergy represents a clinically relevant phenomenon described after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and, particularly in pediatric patients, after solid organ transplantation. Liver transplant (LT) in the pediatric population is associated with de novo IgE-mediated allergy, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, and severe food allergies. De novo post-transplant food allergy (dnPTFA) is a condition with multiple risk factors involved, including young recipient age, female sex, personal or donor history of atopy, calcineurin inhibitors, and Epstein-Barr virus infecti

Food allergy in the context of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.

BACKGROUND: Food allergy is an immune reaction that occurs after ingesting food allergens. In Mexico, the "milpa diet" is the basis of the diet and has health benefits; however, it has been reported that these foods contain allergens that can induce food allergies. In the context of the World Cup being held in Mexico, visitors with food allergies are a vulnerable group, so it is important to provide both them and healthcare personnel with general information about the allergens present in the milpa diet. OBJECTIVE: Describe the main allergens identified in native Mexican foods, particularly f

Cumin anaphylaxis and allergy to spices in pediatrics: a case report and literature review.

While spice allergies are rarely documented in children, spices are becoming an increasingly common allergen in pre-packaged foods. Current literature reports contradictory findings regarding the risk of severe reactions in pediatric patients, with some evidence suggesting that small amounts of spices usually used in home-cooked meals may be safe for children. However, allergens, such as spices, are increasingly used in the food industry, coupled with diverse culinary habits and customs, necessitates a re-evaluation of this risk. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of cumin
