Understanding Postmarketing Requirements and Commitments for CYP3A-Mediated Drug-Drug Interactions: An Analysis of FDA-Approved Drugs From 2015 to 2024.

Addressing knowledge gaps at drug approval through drug-drug interaction (DDI)-related postmarketing requirements (PMRs) and commitments (PMCs) is essential for safe and effective use. This analysis reviewed CYP3A-related PMRs and PMCs, the most evaluated enzyme in postmarketing studies, to characterize their scope. CYP3A-related PMRs, PMCs, and labeling recommendations were identified for small-molecule new molecular entities approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (2015-2024) using the Certara Drug Interaction Database (DIDB). The latest product labels from Drugs@FDA were reviewed

Surgical complications following pancreaticoduodenectomy in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: The management of pancreatic tumors varies depending on the tissue origin, as the tissue type results in numerous differences in the tumor's behavior. Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) arise from pancreatic islet cells, distinguishing them from pancreatic adenocarcinomas that arise from glandular tissue. Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are frequently resected by pancreaticoduodenectomy. This review examines complications of pancreaticoduodenectomy in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. METHODS: PubMed, Cochrane, Virtual Health Library, and Web of Science databa

Alcohol mixed with energy drinks among university students in Poland: prevalence, determinants, and health implications.

BACKGROUND: Alcohol mixed with energy drinks (AmED) has emerged as a public health concern, particularly among young adults. Evidence shows that combining energy drinks (EDs) with alcohol can mask ethanol's sedative effects, promoting higher intake and risky behaviors. METHODS: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted among university students in the Mazovia region of Poland (July 2025). An anonymous questionnaire assessed sociodemographic characteristics, EDs consumption, AmED use, co-use of psychoactive substances, consumption contexts, and adverse effects. Associations were analyzed u

Clinical characteristics, management, and outcomes of diseases caused by mercury overexposure: a systematic review of case reports and case series.

BACKGROUND: Mercury poisoning remains a serious public health issue due to its multiple exposure routes and diverse clinical presentations. However, existing clinical evidence is fragmented, especially regarding real-world case data. This study addresses the gap by systematically reviewing global case reports to analyze clinical features, diagnosis, and treatments, thereby offering more robust evidence for clinical practice. METHODS: Case reports of diseases caused by accidental mercury exposure, published from January 1950 to April 2025, were identified through a comprehensive search of thre

Global, regional, and national burden of chronic kidney disease attributable to dietary risks, 1990 to 2021: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021.

Dietary risks are key modifiable contributors to chronic kidney disease (CKD) worldwide; however, their association with geographic or socioeconomic status remains underexplored. We aimed to quantify the global, regional, and national burden of CKD attributable to dietary risks from 1990 to 2021 using estimates from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2021. Estimates of disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) of CKD attributable to dietary risks were stratified by age, sex, location, and Socio-demographic Index (SDI) across 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. We performed a co

Letter to the editor regarding "association between sarcopenia on residual back pain after percutaneous kyphoplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures".

We commend Chengming Li et al. for examining the link between sarcopenia and residual back pain after PKP. However, their retrospective single‑center study (N = 231) has notable limitations. Sarcopenia was diagnosed solely via SMI at T12 on CT, without functional measures (e.g., grip strength, gait speed), and T12 is not a standard spinal muscle evaluation level, risking diagnostic bias. Pain was assessed only by VAS, lacking detail on characteristics or frequency, hindering mechanistic insight. Causal inference is weak due to unaddressed reverse causality-pre‑operative pain may cause disuse a

Antiemetic Combination Use During the First Trimester and Adverse Circulatory Outcomes in Newborn Infants: A Data-Mining Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Pregnant women sometimes need antiemetic combination therapy to control severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Because promethazine, ondansetron, and metoclopramide have QT-prolonging effects, combination use may potentiate arrhythmic effects in mothers and cause circulatory conditions in infants, with promethazine combinations expected to exert stronger effects than metoclopramide combinations. OBJECTIVE: We implemented tree-based scan statistics to screen for signals of adverse circulatory-related conditions in newborn infants following maternal exposure to promethazine-on

Impact of polycystic kidney disease on outcomes after renal transplantation: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) represents one of the most prevalent inherited renal disorders and constitutes the fourth leading etiology of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). While renal transplantation remains the optimal therapeutic intervention for ESKD, existing evidence regarding post-transplant survival rates and graft loss in PKD recipients remains contentious. This systematic review incorporated studies from PubMed, Scopus, and Embase databases, with a preregistered protocol on PROSPERO (CRD420251002570). We evaluated the impact of PKD on post-transplant outcomes through comparative an

Rate of abnormal uterine bleeding in women on anticoagulation for venous thromboembolism: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) disproportionately affects women of reproductive age, and abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) associated with anticoagulation, particularly direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), remains underreported. Suboptimal AUB management may lead to iron deficiency anemia and recurrent VTE. We aimed to compare the incidence and risk of AUB in women receiving DOACs vs low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH)/vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) for VTE and quantify anemia and iron deficiency risks. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis using MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane databases (

Treatment of Dupuytren Contracture Recurrence After Surgery With Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum: A Retrospective Multicenter Series.

PURPOSE: Dupuytren contracture (DC) is a fibroproliferative disorder characterized by collagen deposition in the palmar fascia. Treatment options include collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) injection and surgery; however, DC frequently recurs after primary therapy. We hypothesized that CCH treatment could be effective and well tolerated for the treatment of contracture recurrence for patients unwilling to undergo reoperation or at high risk for complications. METHODS: This Phase 4, multicenter, noninterventional, retrospective study analyzed medical records from 10 clinical centers in
