Features of coma during the first week after sever head injury were analysed in 700 patients. Coma is best defined as inability to obey commands, to speak, or to open the eyes. If eye opening is omitted from the definition then some less severly affected patients will be included in the early stages, the duration of coma will be overestimated, and in the later stages the distiction between coma and other unresponsive states may be blurred. Hemorrhage into the hand and forearm in hemophiliacs can be devastating if not treated early and properly. Of 200 hemophiliacs followed from 1969 to 1976, thirty-four had lesions of the hand and forearm. Hemarthrosis, the most common musculo-skeletal manifestation of hemophilia, occurred in the wrist and hand on only ten occasions. In spite of continuing progress, total knee arthroplasty still presents many problems. In this clinic 25 arthroplasties have been performed in 22 patients over the last 4 1/2 years. Guépar hinges were used in 21 knees and Marmor modular knees in 4. Acrylic cement was used in all cases. A plaster cradle for vertebral fracture stabilization in paraplegic patients is described. Thirteen consecutively referred patients have been treated. From 1861 to 1975 fifty-three cases of blunt renal pedicle injury have been reported. Sixty-five kidneys were involved (twelve bilateral injuries) and 32 of them were removed. Reconstructive surgery was tried on 17 kidneys, of which only one healed without complication and with recovery of normal function. Nine cases of accidental injury with Freund's complete adjuvant to man are reported. One case is reported in detail and the other eight have been seen and reviewed retrospectively. Reactions developed in Mantoux positive individuals, who injected Freund's complete adjuvant with another protein. However, not all such injections produced the reaction. Treatment was unsuccessful, although one reaction may have been aborted by early surgical excision of the site of injection.

Eight patients with upper extremity deep-vein thrombosis were treated with thrombolytic agents.
