Serum concentrations of IgA, its subgroups IgA1 and IgA2, IgM, IgG, and IgD were determined in a group of 14 mothers who contracted toxoplasmosis during pregnancy and their 14 offspring. Four newborns developed toxoplasmosis, 10 did not. The 4 infants with congenital toxoplasmosis had evidence of increased immunoglobulin synthesis in utero in sharp contrast to the 10 offspring of toxoplasmosis-infected mothers who failed to develop the disease. Active immunotherapy with living BCG was conducted on 98 patients with various types of cancer. The candidates for this therapy were patients with residual or inoperable cancer of the colorectum, liver, breast, biliary tract, lung, and other organs with a follow-up of 4-58 months. Eleven of the 98 (11%) were able to survive for as long as 37-58 months (mean survival time 42.5 months) because of this treatment and are still living. A patient developed a renal venous thrombosis 15 months after renal transplantation. In contrast to other cases described in the literature, the thrombosis was not related to vascular surgical trauma, but was immune-complex mediated. The patient's renal function stabilized and the nephrotic syndrome improved over 18 months follow-up during continuous oral anticoagulant therapy.

Twenty-six women were admitted to National Women's Hospital with complications following therapeutic abortion at the Auckland Medical Aid Centre, during its first year of operation. An evaluation of 433 children with thrombocytopenia is presented. The material comprises all cases diagnosed in Denmark during the period 1959-1969.
