INTRODUCTION: Almost all paediatric humerus fractures can be managed conservatively with a high rate of union. Surgical intervention may be indicated in a few scenarios. Retrograde nailing with titanium elastic nails through a central entry point proximal to the olecranon fossa offers several advantages when surgical fixation is indicated.
CASE REPORT: Three male patients in the age group of 5-14 years with diaphyseal left humerus fractures were treated with retrograde elastic nailing after failed conservative management. The mean age of the patients was 10 years. All the surgeries were perfo

CASE: A 74-year-old woman with osteopetrosis presented with severe right knee pain and difficulty walking due to osteoarthritis. She underwent robotic arm-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA). Although the saw blade did not require replacement during surgery, a fracture associated with the tibial checkpoint occurred. The error of implant placement from the intraoperative plan was within 3.4°. After 1 year, the Forgotten Joint Score was 77, and she was independent in activities of daily living.
CONCLUSION: RA-TKA allows safe and precise bone resection, achieving appropriate alignment even

INTRODUCTION: Acetabular fractures in elderly patients are often the result of low-energy trauma and are complicated by osteopenia, comorbidities, and limited physiologic reserve. Minimally invasive approaches, such as percutaneous fixation have emerged as viable alternatives to open reduction in selected fracture patterns.
CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 76-year-old male with a history of coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and osteopenia who sustained a comminuted right anterior column and posterior hemitransverse acetabular fracture following a ground-level fall. Hi

BACKGROUND: Acute compartment syndrome (ACS) is a limb-threatening condition associated with high morbidity and a substantial risk of long-term functional impairment. ACS most commonly develops shortly after fractures and typically affects the legs and forearms. Although ACS of the upper arm is rare, accounting for approximately 0.6% of cases, the condition can result in severe complications comparable to those observed in the leg and forearm. Therefore, early recognition and appropriate management are essential to prevent adverse outcomes.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of a 21-year-o

BACKGROUND: Distal humeral hemiarthroplasty (DHH) is a treatment option for comminuted joint fractures of the elbow, particularly when osteosynthesis is not possible or has failed. This meta-analysis aims to compare the clinical and functional outcomes of DHH performed for distal humerus fractures acutely versus as salvage after failure of osteosynthesis (open reduction and internal fixation [ORIF]).
METHODS: A systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Studies reporting cases of DHH for complex distal humerus fr

Background and Clinical Significance: Needle fracture during inferior alveolar nerve block is a rare complication, but it can nevertheless result in serious complications, especially when the fragment migrates into deep anatomical spaces like the pterygomandibular region. Accurate localization and safe retrieval are vital in preventing infection, chronic pain, neurovascular injury, and long-term functional impairment. Case Presentation: We present a case of a 27-year-old patient who had a fractured needle fragment from a local anesthetic procedure retained in the left pterygomandibular space.

Background Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is an established treatment option for complex proximal humerus fractures, particularly in elderly patients. Different implant designs exist, including traditional medialized (Grammont-type) prostheses and newer lateralized systems. These designs may influence postoperative range of motion, functional outcomes, and complication rates. Purpose This study aimed to compare rotational mobility, functional outcomes, and complication rates between medialized (Grammont-type) and lateralized reverse shoulder prostheses in patients treated for proxi

STUDY DESIGN: Prospective and comparative study.
PURPOSE: Thoracolumbar injuries are often three-column injuries requiring instrumented stabilization. Motion at the fracture site can affect the accuracy of the O-arm, particularly during the placement of pedicle screws in fracture subtypes with an injured posterior ligamentous complex (PLC). This study aimed to assess the effect of PLC injury on O-arm accuracy during pedicle screw fixation.
OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE: Accurate pedicle screw placement is critical in thoracolumbar fractures. Although O-arm navigation improves precision, PLC injurie

PURPOSE: Accurate screw placement is essential in spinal surgery. To enhance precision, navigation-guided techniques using fluoroscopy or computed tomography (CT) have been developed. Recently, overlay technology has emerged, enabling real-time projection of preoperative planning onto fluoroscopic images through C-arm–based cone-beam CT (CBCT). Needle-guidance–based overlay technology was applied to the surgical management of odontoid fractures and pedicle screw placement, with accuracy and clinical outcomes systematically evaluated. METHODS: A retrospective review was performed of three cases

PURPOSE: To introduce and evaluate the efficacy of oblique chop technique designed to achieve single-pass nucleus division by leveraging both the tip and proximal arm of the chopper for simultaneous anchoring and splitting.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The oblique chop technique was performed in 60 eyes with cataracts ranging from nuclear sclerosis grades NS1 to NS3 (NS1: n=20, NS2: n=20, NS3: n=20). A side port incision was created between 90° and 100° relative to the main port to optimize the mechanical advantage for the hook-and-lock motion. During chopping, the tip of the chopper engages the cen

BACKGROUND: Proximal humerus fractures are a common challenge in patients with initial treatment ranging from nonoperative management, to open reduction and internal fixation, to arthroplasty. Initial treatment failure is not uncommon, and revision to reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) has emerged as a viable salvage option, though long-term outcomes in these patients are variable and remain underreported. This study aimed to evaluate long-term outcomes and failure rates of rTSA after failed initial proximal humerus management (nonoperative and operative). We hypothesized that rTSA for

This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of proximal femoral nailing (PFN) in the lateral decubitus position using a standardized, limb-based approach without a traction table and to report early postoperative (24-72 hours) radiographic and technical outcomes, focusing on lag screw position and tip- apex distance (TAD). This single-center retrospective study included 52 adult patients (>18 years) who underwent PFN in the lateral decubitus position according to a standardized algorithm between January 2021 and December 2024. Demographic characteristics, fracture classification, operative pa

BACKGROUND: Scapular fractures are rare injuries typically resulting from high-energy trauma and often occur in polytrauma patients. Historically managed nonoperatively, recent trends in surgical intervention have evolved, particularly in major trauma centers (MTCs) where expertise and case volume have increased. However, there remains limited literature on the surgical management and long-term outcomes of these injuries.
METHODS: This retrospective cohort study reviewed all patients who underwent surgical fixation for scapular fractures over a 10-year period at a single UK MTC. Patient demog

PURPOSE: We introduce a cobot assisted cortical bone drilling, as applied in femoral, or clavicular fractures. This requires high accuracy, as minor deviations can cause complications through soft tissue penetration (STP). Human-robot collaboration (HRC) combines the surgeon's expertise with robotic stability and sensing accuracy. Thereby, the robot assistant passively guides the drill and prevents soft tissue penetration by detecting breakthroughs via integrated f/t and joint velocity sensors and stopping in place.
METHODS: A robotic arm that passively guides the surgeon during drilling and

BACKGROUND: Old L5 traumatic fractures with kyphotic deformity are quite rare and surgical management constitutes a significant challenge. Anterior vertebrectomy and reconstruction with O-arm navigation for old L5 traumatic fractures with kyphotic deformity aim to restore spinal stability, correct deformity, and improve functionality. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of this approach.
METHODS: A retrospective case series was conducted on 43 patients with old L5 traumatic fractures and kyphotic deformity who underwent anterior vertebrectomy and reconstruction using O-arm navigation

BACKGROUND: Distal humerus fractures are difficult to treat when fixation is not possible, particularly in elderly patients. While total elbow arthroplasty is often used in elderly patients, it is generally not suitable for younger or more active individuals. Distal humerus hemiarthroplasty (DHH) may represent a viable alternative in selected cases. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the clinical and functional outcomes of DHH in patients with complex distal humerus fractures.
METHODS: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for S

BACKGROUND: Geriatric distal humerus fractures are difficult to manage. Open reduction and internal fixation remain the standard, but total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) appears to be a viable alternative. This study evaluated the long-term outcome after primary TEA in comparison to secondary TEA.
METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study with prospective follow-up (FU), patients undergoing TEA after complex distal humerus fractures were analyzed as either primary TEA (index treatment; n = 21) or secondary TEA (salvage procedure after failed fracture treatment; n = 13). Data extracted from the m
