BACKGROUND: Hahn-Steinthal fractures are rare osteochondral injuries of the humeral capitellum that primarily affect young and active patients. Although several fixation techniques have been described, most rely on metallic implants or knot-tying constructs that may increase intra-articular bulk and the risk of cartilage damage. The use of knotless suture anchor fixation for this specific fracture pattern has not yet been specifically described. To our knowledge, this study represents the first report describing knotless suture anchor fixation specifically for Hahn-Steinthal fractures of the c

Background: Fractures of the upper cervical spine are challenging to treat due to their proximity to critical neurovascular structures and the need for immediate, stable fixation. Open posterior fixation remains the standard but is associated with soft-tissue disruption and morbidity. Minimally invasive, navigation-assisted pedicle screw fixation represents a viable alternative for older populations, significantly reducing surgical morbidity and tissue trauma. The present study evaluates the accuracy, safety, and perioperative outcomes of minimally invasive navigated posterolateral C1-C2 fixat

Introduction The deltopectoral approach is the workhorse approach used for plating of proximal humerus fractures. However, the less invasive and less commonly used deltoid-split approach has shown comparable outcomes in selected cases. Literature on its functional outcomes and complications remains limited, especially in the Indian subcontinent. This study evaluates the results of patients with proximal humeral fractures managed by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with plating using proximal humerus locking plates (PHLPs) performed through the deltoid-split approach. BACKGROUND: A cornerstone of rib fracture management is multimodal pain control, which includes scheduled nonopioid analgesics, as-needed opioids, regional or neuraxial blockade, and surgical stabilization of rib fractures. However, adverse effect profiles and individual factors limit their use in all patients. Surgeon-administered, ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoneurolysis performed at the patient bedside is a promising analgesic adjunct.
METHODS: We performed a prospective, randomized clinical trial assessing benefit and safety of surgeon-administered percutaneous cryoneurolysis to our

Segmental fractures of the proximal humeral shaft are rare and challenging to manage, particularly in elderly osteoporotic patients with multiple co-morbidities. Traditional open fixation methods carry risks of soft tissue complications, neurovascular injury, and delayed recovery. Minimally invasive techniques such as Closed Reduction and Internal Fixation (CRIF) with Titanium Elastic Nailing System (TENS) offer an alternative, though their use in segmental proximal humeral fractures remains underreported. We report the case of a 72-year-old female with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cor

Background Pediatric forearm fractures account for approximately 40% of childhood skeletal injuries, with ulnar fractures being particularly prevalent. Titanium Elastic Nailing (TEN) offers an effective minimally invasive option for these injuries; however, the optimal nail entry point - antegrade (olecranon) versus retrograde (distal ulna) - remains debated. This study compared functional and radiological outcomes, complication profiles, and implant-related morbidity between the two approaches. Methods A retrospective comparative study was conducted from May 2023 to May 2025 at the R.L. Jalap

BACKGROUND: Rib fractures are common after blunt thoracic trauma and cause severe pain, impaired ventilation, and pulmonary complications. Surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF) is established for flail chest, but its role in non-flail patients remains uncertain, with heterogeneous patient selection, timing, and outcomes. This scoping review aimed to map the extent, nature, and gaps of the evidence on SSRF in adults with acute non-flail rib fractures, focusing on pain, quality of life, complications, and hospital resource use.
METHODS: Following Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and

BACKGROUND: Open posterior short-segment pedicle instrumentation is an established treatment for unstable thoracolumbar fractures but carries approach-related morbidity from paraspinal muscle stripping. Percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (PPSF) aims to provide comparable stabilization with reduced soft-tissue trauma. We evaluated the perioperative profile, radiographic correction, and screw-placement accuracy of PPSF performed under single conventional fluoroscopy in neurologically intact patients.

Androgen deprivation therapy has a negative effect on bone mineral density and trabecular bone score in prostate cancer patients. The addition of androgen receptor pathway inhibitors can result in worsened skeletal fragility. BonEnza is a prospective phase II trial in which metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer patients were randomized to receive androgen deprivation therapy plus enzalutamide with (EZ arm) or without (E arm) the addition of zoledronic acid. Bone quantity and quality parameters were evaluated by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan at baseline and after 18 months

PURPOSE: Perilunate dislocations and fracture-dislocations are severe wrist injuries, frequently caused by high-energy trauma, that can lead to long-term complications if not promptly addressed. While early open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is the standard treatment for acute injuries, the optimal management of late presentations remains controversial. This study aims to compare the clinical outcomes of proximal row carpectomy (PRC) with those of ORIF in patients with late-presenting perilunate injuries.
METHODS: This retrospective comparative study analyzed data from three hand tra

UNLABELLED: The primary objective of this study was to determine the differences in efficacy between denosumab and zoledronate in preventing secondary vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). Our findings demonstrate that twice-yearly administration of denosumab compared with conventional zoledronate significantly reduces the early risk of secondary VCFs among postmenopausal women following vertebroplasty. However, this advantage was confined to the first year and was not sustained at 24 months. Clinicians should consider denosumab as a preferential option over bisphosphonates when managing ost

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to assess the long-term results of the stemless onlay Comprehensive Nano reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) system.
METHODS: We evaluated 35 shoulders at an average follow-up of 106 ± 14.6 months (range, 80-135) (follow-up rate 66%). Patients were evaluated via the Constant-Murley scale, the DASH score (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and the subjective shoulder value (SSV). Furthermore, a visual analog scale (VAS) for pain intensity was used. The passive glenohumeral range of motion and active total range of motion were recorded.

BACKGROUND: Attritional rupture of the flexor pollicis longus (FPL) after volar plating of distal radius fractures is an uncommon but morbid complication, secondary to plate prominence at or distal to the watershed zone. No consensus exists regarding the optimal reconstruction, as both tendon grafting and tendon transfer are routinely utilized. This study evaluated clinical outcomes of tendon transfer versus tendon grafting for FPL rupture following volar plate fixation and compared presenting features, radiographic prominence, and complications between cohorts.
