A Unique Case of Metastatic Oral Kaposi Sarcoma in an HIV-Negative Patient.

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is a tumor involving blood vessels and lymphatic tissue. It is caused by human herpes virus-8, typically in HIV infection in individuals with AIDS. There are 4 major types of KS including classic, endemic, immunosuppression, and AIDS-related. Endemic KS is unique among the different types as it is associated with patients with HIV-seronegative and can present either as an indolent tumor or as a fast-growing mass. The authors discuss a unique presentation of metastatic, endemic KS in a patient with HIV-negative, non-immunosuppression, which has yet to be described in the U

Artificial intelligence in panoramic radiography interpretation: a glimpse into the state-of-the-art radiologic examination method.

AIM: Panoramic radiography is a frequently utilized imaging technique in standard dental examinations and provides many advantages. In this context, studies have been conducted to develop tools to assist physicians in clinical practice by using deep learning models to interpret panoramic radiography images. However, studies in the existing literature have generally addressed these conditions separately, and studies that develop a multiclass diagnostic charting model that can detect and segment all these conditions are very limited. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to develop a deep

Comparative Cadaveric Study and Anatomic Limitations of the Nasofrontal Trephination: A Novel Endoscopic Corridor for Enhanced Exposure of The Odontoid and Occipital Condyle Regions.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) serves as the primary minimally invasive route to the ventral craniovertebral junction (CVJ). However, anatomic constraints limit its caudal reach. Multiport endoscopic approaches may complement a standard EEA providing additional reach. This anatomic study evaluates the EEA's anatomic limitations in accessing the CVJ and examines how contralateral nasofrontal trephination (CNT) port may overcome these constraints. METHODS: Thirty-two cadaveric specimens underwent EEA and CNT dissections. Key measurements included the nasoaxia

A Case of IgG4-Related Disease Presenting With Concurrent Uveitis, Posterior Scleritis, Serous Retinal Detachment, and Choroidal Thickening Mimicking Intraocular Lymphoma.

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic fibro-inflammatory condition characterized by tumor-like lesions, dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltrates rich in IgG4-positive plasma cells, and often elevated serum IgG4 levels. Ocular involvement is common, typically affecting the lacrimal glands and extraocular muscles. However, intraocular manifestations such as uveitis and scleritis are less frequent. We report the case of a 66-year-old Japanese man presenting with bilateral uveitis, posterior scleritis, serous retinal detachment, and choroidal thickening, initially mimicking intraocular lymphoma.

A Conservative Approach for Management of Aggressive Maxillary Myofibroma in Pediatric Patients: A New Perspective.

BACKGROUND: Myofibromas (MF) are rare benign tumors primarily affecting the head and neck region, with maxillary involvement being uncommon, especially in pediatric patients. Traditional management typically involves aggressive resection. This report presents a conservative approach utilizing 3D-based technologies for treating Myofibromas affecting the maxilla and hard palate. Case presentation: A 13-year-old male with a Myofibroma of the hard palate confirmed by incisional biopsy was managed conservatively through 3D imaging, segmentation, 3D printing, local excision, and a custom-fabricated

Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Minor Salivary Glands Diagnosed by High-Definition Ultrasound and Fine-Needle Aspiration: A Milan System-Based Retrospective Study.

Background/Objectives: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant tumor of the minor salivary glands, often affecting the hard palate. Preoperative diagnosis and surgical planning are challenging due to anatomical complexity and limitations in sampling, generally obtained by fine-needle aspiration (FNA). This study retrospectively evaluated the diagnostic and therapeutic performance of a high-definition ultrasound (HDUS)-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology/biopsy (FNAC/FNAB) protocol in diagnosing intraoral MEC, based on the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopat

Engineered bone-targeting apoptotic vesicles as a minimally invasive nanotherapy for heterotopic ossification.

Heterotopic Ossification (HO), refers to pathological extra skeletal bone formation, and there are currently no reliable methods except surgery to reverse these unexpected calcified tissues. Apoptotic vesicles (ApoEVs) are membrane-bound vesicles released by apoptotic cells, which are involved in metabolism regulation and intercellular communication. Due to its superior trauma-healing ability, the hard palate mucosa is expected to become an essential resource for tissue engineering. This work presents a minimally invasive nanotherapy based on an engineered apoEV. Briefly, apoEVs were extracted
