Optoelectronic van der Waals (vdW) memristors integrating photosensing, memory, and computing capabilities are promising for artificial vision but are limited by single photoresponse modes, low yields, and high device variability. Here, we demonstrate a 1-kb PdSe2/MoS2 van der Waals heterostructure (vdWH) optoelectronic memristor array with bidirectional photoresponse, unified sensing-memory-computing functions, high yield, and excellent uniformity. The vdWH interface induces competitive photogenerated carrier separation and recombination, enabling wavelength-dependent positive and negative ph

Single polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon molecules embedded in organic matrices are excellent narrow line width quantum emitters. Extending this host-guest setting to van der Waals materials offers the opportunity to combine the preeminent properties of molecular emitters with access to the versatility of two-dimensional heterostructures. In this work, we incorporate perylene molecules into multilayered hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) stacks and observe gigahertz-narrow zero-phonon-line transitions at cryogenic temperatures. We unambiguously verify the origins of photon emission through vibronic s

Domain wall (DW) electronics hold promise for high-density computing, but their implementation is limited by low read currents and high operating voltages in bulk ferroelectric oxides. Here, we present a monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)/PbTiO3 (PTO) van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure that overcomes these limitations. By integrating a monolayer MoS2 capping layer, we read out giant DW conductance with microampere (μA)-level currents, exceptional retention (>360 h), and an ultralow reading turn-on voltage (∼0.36 V). This giant DW conductance is attributed to local electrostatic doping of t

Raman enhancement has been widely observed for molecules adsorbed on van der Waals (vdW) materials including graphene, MoS2, hexagonal boron nitride, and transition-metal dichalcogenides. This enhancement is often dominated by a chemical mechanism. However, how the Raman response evolves when a molecule is sandwiched between two vdW layers remains unclear. Here, using copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) as a probe, we compare three sandwich structures: graphene/CuPc/TiS2, graphene/CuPc/TiSe2, and graphene/CuPc/graphene, spanning asymmetric to near-symmetric dual-interface geometries. We find that add

Exchange bias from ferromagnet (FM) and antiferromagnet (AFM) interface underpins modern spintronics and magnetic technologies. Van der Waals (vdW) magnets allow arbitrary stacking, offering richer material and device choices. However, challenges arise when integrating FM metals with vdW topological materials. Conductive channels from FMs obscure intrinsic topological transport properties of interest for low-dissipation spintronics. Here we report a device obtained by inserting an insulating h-BN spacer between FM Fe3GaTe2 and the AFM topological insulator MnBi2Te4, departing from the conventi

Unlocking the full potential of two-dimensional (2D) electronics demands patternable electrical contacts that simultaneously offer atomic flatness, high conductivity, and robust resistance against thermal and environmental degradation. Here, we demonstrate that chemically synthesized, single-crystalline gold flakes meet all these requirements. Notably, the gold flakes can be precisely patterned into desired geometries via cysteamine-assisted mild wet etching, distinguishing them from other 2D metallic materials. By integrating gold flakes into field effect transistors (FETs) with a monolayer M

Precise heteroepitaxial control in van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate a visualized and directed heteroepitaxy strategy for GeSe on WSe2 by integrating in situ imaging with symmetry-guided physical vapor deposition. Real-time observation captures the nucleation kinetics and orientation evolution, accelerating process optimization. Combined density functional theory calculations and transmission electron microscope characterizations identify a preferential epitaxial angle of 20° (occurrence: 59.37%) for most GeSe nanosheets, corresponding to the global

Chemically exfoliated transition metal dichalcogenides are promising materials for optoelectronic applications, but their practical use is often limited by low in-plane electrical conductivity. Here, we report a biphasic self-assembly strategy for fabricating large-area MoS2/C heterostructured thin films from colloidal MoS2 nanosheets. By balancing electrostatic repulsion and van der Waals attraction through controlled protonation at a polar-nonpolar solvent interface, MoS2 nanosheets spontaneously assemble into continuous films. Structural characterization confirms the formation of 3-4 layer

Ion transport in crystalline hosts is controlled by an applied potential that simultaneously sets ionic distribution and transport rate, restricting operation to a one-dimensional control space. Here we show that the transport rate of Li+ ions in double-gated van der Waals devices can be modulated while the system occupies fixed ionic-density states. We measure the ionic current along the van der Waals interfaces between hexagonal boron nitride and graphene or MoS2 while simultaneously monitoring the in-plane electronic response. The ionic current exhibits pronounced hysteresis, with plateaus

Glyme-based electrolytes have emerged as promising candidates for sodium-ion batteries owing to their ability to form stable solvation structures around Na+ via multidentate coordination with ether oxygen atoms. While the solvation and transport properties of sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI) in short-chain glymes have been systematically investigated, solutions of pentaglyme (G5) remain poorly understood and, to the best of our knowledge, are unexplored in binary glyme mixtures. Herein, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are used to investigate the solvation structure, ion a

Crystalline C60 is a molecular solid whose electronic properties emerge from the interplay of intermolecular hopping, electron correlations, and electron-vibration coupling. Unlike moiré van der Waals heterostructures, where the interaction strength is commonly tuned by twist angle, molecular materials offer a complementary route in which the layer number, molecular orientation, and substrate registry provide experimentally accessible control parameters. Here we present a systematic thickness-dependent angle-resolved photoemission study of C60 films, spanning the monolayer to the bulk limit. T

The electrical control of altermagnetic spin splitting represents a critical ability to engineer band landscapes for generating emergent magnetoelectric physics and spintronic applications. Previous efforts have mainly resorted to hypothetical ferroelectric-altermagnetic materials to integrate ferroelectricity and altermagnetism into one system. However, even with such integration, the even-parity nature of altermagnetic band structures usually impedes the realization of ferroelectric-switchable altermagnetism, as polarization switching is widely assumed to be a spatial parity transformation.

In recent years, the increasing level of control over van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures has opened new routes to tune the properties of quantum materials. Motivated by these developments, we examine the potential consequences of interfacing a Kitaev honeycomb magnet, such as α-RuCl3, with a nearly lattice-matched vdW antiferromagnet. By combining perturbation theory, exact diagonalization, and a classical energy-minimization method, we show that an effective staggered magnetic field originating from the vdW antiferromagnet can drive a monolayer of a Kitaev material into various novel phases

Electronic correlations can strongly influence the properties of magnetic materials, yet their role in charge transport in devices under operating conditions remains largely unexplored. Here, we show that an applied bias voltage can drive a breakdown of quasiparticle coherence in the prototypical two-dimensional ferromagnet Fe4GeTe2. Using a first-principles framework combining density functional theory, dynamical mean-field theory, and nonequilibrium Green's functions, we predict a voltage-induced transition from coherent, nearly half-metallic transport to a nonequilibrium regime dominated by

Rare-earth metal catalysts have unique catalytic properties. In order to uncover the critical roles of amine additives and water for Sc catalysts, this study theoretically investigates the trans-diastereoselective [3 + 2] annulation of α,β-unsaturated aldimines with alkenes catalyzed by a C5Me4SiMe3-ligated half-sandwich scandium catalyst. 1-adamantylamine (AdNH2) is found to facilitate the cyclization step by lowering the Gibbs free energy by 3.6 kcal mol-1 and promote catalyst regeneration via 1-adamantylamine-mediated hydrogen exchange. The newly identified 1-adamantylamine-promoted borrowi

Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) as the core sewage sludge components play important roles in floc stability and pollutant adsorption. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying EPS-virus interactions and their environmental implications remain unclear. This study employed three representative model EPS components, i.e., proteins, polysaccharides, and humic substances, and systematically investigated EPS-virus interaction mechanisms with T7 bacteriophage as a virus surrogate. By integrating surface plasmon resonance analysis, double-layer agar plaque assays and qPCR, we demonstrated

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are promising candidates for next-generation nanoelectronics, but their atomically thin geometry and large surface area make device performance highly susceptible to environmental degradation. Here, we fabricate field-effect transistors based on individual one-dimensional (1D) van der Waals heterostructures consisting of SWCNTs encapsulated by few-layer boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs). We directly fabricate devices on the same individual nanotube with and without BNNT protection, enabling a reliable comparison of their device performances. Statistical an

Integrating van der Waals (vdW) devices into circuits requires metal electrodes and interconnects spanning nanometer to millimeter scales, yet mechanical deformation during electrode transfer compromises geometric integrity across this range. This work identifies strain localized at the carrier peel-front as a dominant factor influencing transferred metal geometry. Evaluating the peel-front strain against thickness-dependent strain tolerance of the carrier layer yields a mechanics-based framework that predicts the carrier thickness for geometry-preserving transfer. Operating within this regime

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials with sliding ferroelectricity exhibit an enormous potential for next-generation nanodevices. Among these, 1T'-ReS2 with an ultralow symmetry stands out as a pivotal candidate. However, the fundamental scientific mechanism underlying sliding ferroelectricity in 1T'-ReS2 remains poorly understood due to the complexity of its crystal structure. By integrating STEM, DFT calculations, and KPFM, this work resolves the correlation between AA/AB stacking and polarization in 1T'-ReS2. PFM and STEM characterizations further reveal that the observed ferr

Air-sensitive 2D materials present fundamental challenges for device integration. Encapsulation is required to preserve intrinsic properties, yet conventional strategies require complicated fabrication workflows and fail with thicker flakes. We demonstrate that electron-beam (e-beam) evaporated aluminum oxide (AlOx) serves as an effective encapsulation layer and sacrificial fabrication mask, protecting sensitive flakes from air, photoresists, and chemicals. Unlike transfer-based approaches, this scalable technique requires no stacking and enables contacts without postencapsulation etching or h
