Determinants of delivery rider disability severity based on judicial adjudication records in China.

The rapid expansion of the gig economy has increased instant delivery crashes (IDCs), yet the determinants of rider disability remain unclear. This study analyzed 633 adjudicated rider injury cases (2015–2023) from Chinese legal judgments to identify risk factors for the Highest Assessed Disability Grade (HADG). We integrated sociodemographic, vehicular, spatiotemporal, and crash-mechanism variables into ordered logit models to quantify risk determinants. Results indicate that while most adjudicated injuries were non-permanent, lower-limb fractures constituted the primary mechanism of establis

Multi-Modal Feature Fusion and Hierarchical Classification for Automated Equine-Human Interaction Behavior Recognition.

Automated recognition of equine-human interaction behaviors from video represents a significant challenge in computational ethology, with critical applications spanning animal welfare assessment, equine-assisted services evaluation, and safety monitoring in equestrian environments. Existing approaches to animal behavior recognition typically focus on single species in isolation, rely solely on facial expression analysis while ignoring full-body posture, or employ flat classification architectures that fail under the severe class imbalances characteristic of naturalistic behavioral datasets. Investigating the barriers to uptake and utilization of overdose response hotlines and apps: A study based on data from a national survey.

OBJECTIVE: Overdose Response Hotlines and Apps (ORHAs) are novel technologies designed to avert fatal overdose associated with solitary use of illicit substances. While they can be a useful tool for those who cannot reach in-person harm reduction support, previous literature has cited potential barriers to their access. The aim of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the types of barriers that may hinder the uptake and utilization of ORHAs from the perspective of key stakeholders. METHODS: The current study reports on the data obtained from Canadian National Questionnaire on Overdose Mon

Supporting Parents with Mental Health Conditions: A Qualitative Systematic Review of Parents' Experiences with Professional Support.

Many people with mental health conditions are parents, and research indicates that some would value and benefit from professional support for their parenting role. Yet little is known about their experiences of accessing these services, with this information dispersed amongst studies that primarily focus on other issues. This study aimed to bring together knowledge from current literature about the perspectives of parents living with mental health conditions about accessing professional support for parenting. A qualitative systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. MEDLINE, E

Measuring change in school-based practices that promote children's healthy eating and active living: a psychometric study.

BACKGROUND: Public health interventions targeting youth nutrition and physical activity often focus on changing policies, systems, and environments (PSE) in schools. To support rigorous evaluation of PSE efforts, this study examined whether the School Site-Level Assessment Questionnaire (SLAQ), a self-assessment instrument for schools serving grades kindergarten through 12 (K-12), was sufficiently sensitive to measure changes in schools’ nutrition and physical activity practices in response to interventions. METHODS: This longitudinal, observational study included 69 K-12 schools in low-income

Faster and More Robust CK Reaction Rate Estimation at 3T Using Acquisition-Weighted 31P Cardiac 1D-MRSI With Compartment-Based Reconstruction.

PURPOSE: Quantification of the creatine kinase (CK) forward reaction rate (kf) in the human heart using phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy is clinically important; however, it is limited by long acquisition times, operator subjectivity in analysis, and potential skeletal muscle contamination. This study evaluates if combining compartment-based reconstruction techniques with acquisition-weighted (AW) Triple Repetition Time Saturation Transfer (TRiST) acquisitions could overcome these challenges. METHODS: Healthy volunteers were scanned with a fully weighted (FW) TRiST protocol twice, a

A screening strategy for identifying the developmental and reproductive toxicity potential of botanicals.

CONTEXT: Botanicals are widely consumed as dietary supplements and traditional medicines, yet their developmental and reproductive toxicity (DART) potential is often inadequately characterized. Botanicals are chemically complex and variable, complicating traditional in vivo testing and interpretation. There is a need for fit-for-purpose new approach methodologies (NAMs) to evaluate DART hazards of complex mixtures while reducing reliance on mammalian models. OBJECTIVE: This review describes the Botanical Safety Consortium (BSC) DART Working Group strategy to evaluate a battery of NAMs for scr

Who is a mobile man 'at risk'? Masculinity, work-related mobility, and HIV-related risks in Uganda and South Africa.

Men who move for work (e.g., taxi drivers, fishermen, labourers) are often described as a homogeneous group at equal risk of HIV acquisition. This framing often masks important differences between men. Using data from rapid ethnographic assessments and a baseline survey in two settings in South Africa and one in Uganda, we examine how sexual risk- taking among men who travel frequently for work is shaped by mobility. We describe the different mobility patterns of men who are engaged in fishing, driving taxis and trucks and motorcycle-taxi riders, showing how these patterns interacted with repu
