Injury due to go-karting accidents is a new kind of surgical emergency in Turkey and may show variations between patients. There are special details as relate to the design of the vehicles and patient characteristics. We report two seriously injured patients as a result of two different go-kart accidents. Severe intraabdominal hemorrhage due to liver laceration was seen in one patient and mesenteric intestinal avulsion in the other. Both patients were treated surgically and discharged uneventfully.

Tractors are associated with more fatalities than any other piece of machinery in agriculture, with tractor rollovers being a frequent mechanism. This study examines tractor fatalities between 1985 and 2010 in Victoria, Australia, and examines the impact of the 1998 legislation mandating the retrofitting of rollover protection structures (ROPS). BACKGROUND: With increases in use and power of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), there have been dramatic increases in both the number and severity of ATV-related injuries. The KIDS database showed a 240% increase in the number of children admitted to a hospital for an ATV-related injury between 1997 and 2006. Over the same time period, there was a 476% increase in the number of children with ATV-related spine injuries. To better understand the nature of these injuries, a series of pediatric ATV-related spine fractures at a regional pediatric trauma center were analyzed.

The objective of this study was to summarize basic information on the characteristics of work-related A TV deaths among civilian persons 18 years of age or older in the U.S. from 1992 through 2007. Work-related ATV death data were obtained through the Bureau of Labor Statistics' annual Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries.
