Although renal cystic formations are seen frequently and arise with diverse symptoms, epidermal cyst is a very unusual cause of renal masses. A50-year-old woman was admitted to our clinic because of lumbar pain, hematuria and dysuria that lasted for 2 months. An atrophic and dysfunctional right kidney was identified. Transperitoneal laparoscopic simple nephrectomy was performed. Microscopic examination revealed typical findings of epidermoid cyst. According to the literature, intrarenal epidermal cysts are usually treated by nephrectomy because they cannot be differentiated from renal masses. …

A 58-year-old Japanese woman with a pigmented epidermal cyst on the upper arch of the right external ear is described. The blue appearance of the cyst was striking and uncommon in Japanese. Histologically, abundant melanin pigment was observed in the keratinous mass of the cavity, and epithelial cells showed epidermoid keratinization. Increased numbers of melanocytes in the basal layer, large globular cells of melanocytic origin in the spinous layer, and hair-germ-like aggregates of basaloid cells and melanocytes were also observed. The blue clinical appearance is probably due to the rich mela…

This paper presents a case of perineal epidermal cyst. Diagnostic imagings by ultrasonography, CT scanning and MR imaging described the mass as a cystic tumor on the perineal median raphe. It was excised for the histological diagnosis. The removed mass was shown microscopically to be filled with laminated keratin and to be lined with differentiated cornified squamous epithelium. The pathological diagnosis was benign perineal epidermal cyst.

Epidermal cysts of the palms and sole of feet are rare. They originate from traumatic implantation of the epidermis into the dermis or subcutis. Three cases (one on the palm and two on the sole of the feet) are reported.

We report a case of epidermal inclusion cyst of penis in a five-year-old boy, who had presented to the outpatient department of our hospital. Epidermal inclusion cysts are benign lesions that can develop in any part of the body. However, the finding of an epidermal inclusion cyst in the penis is rare. The child was operated and discharged uneventfully. The objective of reporting this case is to highlight the rare possibility of an inclusion cyst arising from penis as a late complication of circumcision.

PURPOSE: To report 3 cases of epidermal inclusion cyst that arose within the tarsus, an unusual site of origin.
METHODS: A retrospective review of medical records of patients undergoing excision of eyelid epidermal inclusion cysts by one surgeon (MJL) over a decade revealed 3 cases of intratarsal epidermal inclusion cyst. Initially, these lesions resembled chalazia and were first addressed with incision and curettage. There was recurrence of the cyst in all the 3 cases from 1 to 4 months, and subsequent complete excision was necessary.
RESULTS: At surgery in each of these cases a cyst arisin
