A case of limbic encephalitis diagnosed in a 56-year-old man with small-cell lung cancer is reported. Death occurred after 6 1/2 months due to cardiorespiratory insufficiency. Psychopathology, course and diagnostic findings of the syndrome are described, and pathogenetic hypotheses are discussed.

We report on a 69-year old male patient who presented with vague depressive symptoms and loss of weight accompanied by lack of appetite, ageusia and anosmia. Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is challenging to diagnose, as it presents with variable symptoms. We encountered a complicated case of CVT that mimicked limbic encephalitis due to sensory aphasia.
