We hope that this novel, integrative approach will help improve our mechanistic understanding of trauma and neurodegeneration, solo and in concert, and ultimately assist in generating more effective treatment options.

The tar, nicotine, CO, HCN, total aldehyde, and acrolein deliveries of 102 brands of Canadian cigarettes have been determined. On the basis of these deliveries, 15 brands (9% of sales) were categorized as low hazard and 9 brands (10% of sales) as high hazards. Acrolein is a metabolite of cyclophosphamide (CYP), an alkylating agent used for a wide range of benign and malignant diseases. CYP treatments are known to trigger hemorrhagic cystitis in patients and animals. INTRODUCTION: Epidemiological studies have reported an association between exposures to ambient air pollution and respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
