Between April 68 and May 91, 59 patients underwent total correction for double-outlet right ventricle. The mean age was 59.2 +/- 7.8 months. The hospital mortality rate was 27%; it was 41% before 1980 and 13% thereafter. Low cardiac output failure was the leading cause of early death. Myocardial protection without cardioplegia and long cardiopulmonary bypass time were significant predictors of hospital mortality in univariate as well as in multivariate analysis. The predictive validity of the Static-99 measures with ethnic minorities in the United States has only recently been assessed with mixed results. We assessed the predictive validity of the Static-99 and Static-99R with a sample of Latino sex offenders ( N = 483) as well as with two subsamples (U.S.-born, including Puerto Rico, and non-U.S.-born). Although aortic valvotomy has offered excellent palliation in many instances, the operative risk remains substantial. This is a retrospective study of 462 patients who had masectomy and axillary dissection for carcinoma of the breast during 1971-1980. Actuarial analysis of relapse rates up to 5 years showed that the extent of involvement of axillary lymph nodes was the most important prognostic factor. Data of 769 Stage I melanoma patients treated from 1967 to 1974 by the W.H.O. Melanoma Group centers were analyzed. The mean follow-up period was 10.3 years. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this report is to review the surgical experience of a single institution with a relatively large series of patients with mixed total pulmonary venous drainage.
PATIENT POPULATION: Between January 1, 1971, and December 31, 1994, 232 patients with total pulmonary venous drainage underwent surgical correction. Twenty of these patients (8.6%) had mixed type total pulmonary venous drainage. Ages at operation ranged from 1 day to 46 months, with a median of 2.3 months.

BACKGROUND: We reviewed our experience with isolated lung transplantation at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, Ill. From April 1990 through June 1992, 33 lung transplantations for end-stage pulmonary disease were performed (30 single lung, three bilateral single lung).
