This paper reports the results on 13 patients with mumps orchitis, with special consideration of 7 andrologically after-cared cases. The results with and without therapeutic use of corticosteroids are compared. Furthermore, we present the andrological outcome in these patients.

In a catamnestic study an analysis of the clinical results as well as of the spermatograms are reported on 545 andrological patients with "atrophy" (that means reduced testis volume) or absence of one testis and a contralaterally normal developed testis. It can be demonstrated that there do not exist any differences concerning the size and consistency of the present testis and with regard to absence or lost of one testis (hemicastration). In the years 1971 to 1981, clinical signs of mycotic skin infection were found in 589 andrological patients (2.7%). Microscopic proof and absence of positive microscopic results, respectively, are not sufficient for diagnosis; therefore, the culture is a conditio sine qua non for exact diagnosis.
