BACKGROUND: Medication adherence is critical for effective management of chronic diseases among older adults. While non-adherence is common in India, limited qualitative research has explored how older adults, pharmacists, and physicians perceive the behavioral, communication-related, and contextual factors influencing long-term medicine use.
OBJECTIVES: To explore medication adherence among older adults with chronic illness by examining the perspectives of patients, pharmacists, and physicians on behavioral, communication-related, and contextual factors influencing long-term medicine use.

The incorporation of genomic information into routine care settings is a burgeoning area for investigation in behavioral medicine. The past decade has witnessed rapid advancements in knowledge of genetic biomarkers associated with smoking behaviors and tobacco-related morbidity and mortality, providing the basis for promising genomic applications in clinical and community settings. We assessed the current state of readiness for implementing genomic applications involving variation in the α5 nicotinic cholinergic receptor subunit gene CHRNA5 and smoking outcomes (behaviors and related diseases)

CONTEXT: Chronic diseases are leading causes of death and contribute over $1 trillion to annual United States health care costs. Behavioral interventions promoting physical activity, dietary changes, and stress management have demonstrated effectiveness in preventing and managing chronic diseases. Despite a strong evidence base, these interventions are not consistently covered by health care payers.
METHODS: We reviewed publicly available documentation of coverage determinations by CMS and private payers for four behavioral programs: Diabetes Prevention Program, Ornish Lifestyle Medicine, Int

Migraine headaches are among the most prevalent and disabling pain conditions worldwide. Best-practice migraine management is multidisciplinary and includes the psychological approaches to address cognitive, behavioral, and affective factors that worsen pain, distress, and disability. The psychological interventions with the strongest research support are relaxation strategies, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and biofeedback, though the quality of clinical trials for all psychological interventions needs continued improvement. The efficacy of psychological interventions may be improved by valida

Behavioral psychotherapy may promote physical health and treat some behavior-linked medical conditions. Prevention of risk factors, and relapse through self-management, the development of a healthy life-style and the possibility to use its technology in the community at a relatively low cost are emphasized. Controlled studies suggest its effectiveness in cardiovascular diseases, headaches, stuttering, alcoholism, pain and bulimia nervosa. Cancer, psychoneuroimmunology and AIDS are under investigation. Behavioral science and health psychology researchers often strive to investigate treatment effects using traditional statistical approaches, such as repeated measures ANOVA. However, these methods often fall short in addressing complexities like measurement error, intraindividual variability, and change processes over time. This study introduces the Two-Wave Latent Change Score Model (2W-LCSM; Henk & Castro-Schilo, 2016) as a robust alternative for modeling treatment-induced change and its long-term behavioral consequences. We demonstrate an illustrative example using data from individuals con

BACKGROUND: Within gerontology, various theoretical perspectives on what it means to age successfully have emerged over recent decades (5) and garnered empirical support. Similarly, within medicine and related healthcare fields, research and practice have focused on healthy living in terms of physical health, mental health, and well-being. In recent years, the practice of Lifestyle Medicine (nutrition, physical activity, stress management, restorative sleep, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances) has emerged to describe the role of such lifestyle factors on health.

Concussion and persistent postconcussive symptoms (PPCS) are encountered by clinicians in sports medicine, pediatrics, neurology, physiatry, emergency medicine, and primary care. Clinical management may require a multidisciplinary approach. This article presents a structured method for the diagnosis of concussion and PPCS in the outpatient setting, which includes a history, physical examination, and additional tests as clinically indicated to help identify underlying symptom generators. Treatment for concussion and PPCS should be individualized, based on predominant signs and symptoms, and can

Autoimmune encephalitis associated with neuronal autoantibodies is increasingly recognized in veterinary medicine. In cats, previously reported antibodies have primarily targeted components of the voltage-gated potassium channel complex, such as leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1) and contactin-associated protein-like 2 (CASPR2). Anti-metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1) antibodies are well described in human medicine but have not previously been reported in cats. A 5.5-month-old female domestic shorthair cat was presented for recurrent epileptic seizures and episodic behavioral abn

In clinical practice, pharmacological treatment is mostly focused on behavioral symptoms in everyday life. Nevertheless, persistent effort continues to develop medication for causal treatment. Recent changes in diagnostic criteria from Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, text revision (DSM-IV-TR) to DSM-5 would affect not only diagnosing approaches, but also therapeutic approaches. Because previous pervasive developmental disorders have been integrated into a single entity, the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), we have to prepare for what medications are valuable

The study examined the morphological and long-term behavioral impacts of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in a mouse model. We investigated the modification of different behavioral domains, such as spontaneous climbing, which represents fine motor skills. We also focused on sex-dependent differences during hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. The Rice-Vannucci model of hypoxia-ischemia was used, adjusted and adapted to 7-day-old C57BL/6NTac mice. The effects of induced hypoxia and ischemia were also studied separately. At postnatal day 60, mice underwent behavioral testing using the LABORAS
